SM- So, Tristan, introduce yourself!
TP-Hi my name is tristan ann prettyman. i surf, i eat, i love, i laugh. oh! and i sing, write songs, and play the guitar.
SM- I really dig your groove, Beautiful w G Love. Did you have a blast recording that mix or what?
TP- well that was the 3rd attempt at recording that song. we wrote that back in november of '03 i want to say. it was our first tour we did. we played it all tour, and then played it some more, played it some more....we tried to record it for my record, but i had another boyfriend, so i couldnt get the feel of singing peanut butter butter with as much meaning as when we first wrote it. so we waited and played it some more live, played it some more live and then garrett (g love) was pretty adamant about having it on his record. so we tried recording it again, but no dice. then a couple months later, we were kinda hanging out again and i came to one of the shows, we ended up recording it in the dressing room. the best things come about when you are truly just feeling them...it made the record and now is the 2nd single, im pretty stoked, its one of my favorite songs i have ever been apart of :)
SM- Who was the first person you called when Virgin Records signed you?
TP- oh wow, i dont even remember, i think probably my mom, it didnt just happen in a moment or an instant, everyone kinda new what was going on...i think i probably called my mom or my boyfriend at the time.
SM- Do you have a funky tradition you do before a show?
TP- i used to, but i kinda let it all go, im very much in a space right now, where i dont want to put boundaries or set rules around me, i kinda just go wit the flow and do what i need to do, spontaneity is my middle name these days :)
SM- Okay, last one, who or what is your inspiration?
TP-right now, the hummingbirds outside my window...life in general is really good for me right now, im in a really great place, where i finally feel like my happiness and well being doesnt rely on people or events, it all comes from me...so i guess i am inspiring to me...
