Intestinal Fortitude

Being Strong when We Need to Be

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

Inner strength
That can be employed
Outwardly;
Courage or guts,
Resiliency in the
Most challenging
Times.
What has it to do
With our
Intestines?
Is it simply that
Out innards
Include plumbing?
Or is it that
Good gag reflex
Control
Is regarded as being
Indicative
Of a more global
Coping ability?
We all hope,
Though challenges often
Interlope
To sustain our ability
To cope.

I've found, in my lifetime, that I can cope with most anything. I take care of emergencies as they occure and, depending on the severity of the problem, fall apart when it's over. Nice article, David.
