Intimate Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for Your Girlfriend

Erin Morris
Shopping for that special someone on Valentine's Day can be tough; especially for guys. Trying to find a unique gift that your girlfriend will love can be extremely hard for some. If you are sick and tired of getting the same old thing for your girlfriend on Valentine's Day, here are some suggestions that might help you make your gift truly unique.

The Usual - But Better

When I say the usual, you all know what I'm talking about - flowers, cards and candy. While the usual Valentine's gift can be very romantic, they can also be very predictable. So here are some helpful hints on how to spice up the usual.

Flowers: while red roses are a traditional Valentine's gift, they are the most predictable gift out there. If you want to go traditional yet unique, try a mix of red, white and pink roses. Or if you want to get her something that will truly make her smile, do a little investigating and find out what her favorite flower is. Or find a bouquet of really exotic flowers, ones you don't see everyday. Visit 1-800Flowers.Com for a fantastic selection of unique flower arrangements.

Cards: don't let Hallmark do all the work for you this year, how about take some time and make her a card of your very own. Go vintage and get some red, white and pink construction paper and some markers, glitter and Elmer's glue; all the essentials for classic valentines. They really hit it on the nose when they said 'it's the thought that counts' because putting extra thought into your card can go a long way!

Candy: the revolution of candy has taken Valentine's Day to a whole new level. Gone are the days of the classic red heart box with chocolate assortments in it, nowadays, you have to get creative. Intimate, romantic candy gestures can come in a few ways. My personal favorite is the huge Hershey kisses. One big smacker can show her just how you feel! Or try a gourmet chocolate heart with her name written on it, or a loving message. And if you want to get really into it, try personalized candy. You can get personalized candy bars or personalized M&M's. Taking that extra step will really make her feel great!

Lingerie

Intimate apparel is certainly an intimate gift to give your girlfriend. If you are looking for a special gift that will make her feel sexy and beautiful, lingerie is just your ticket. Now lingerie is a very difficult gift to buy, because we know, in many cases, men will tend to buy lingerie based on what they want to see their girlfriends in, instead of what she might be comfortable wearing. So I suggest taking a look at what lingerie your girlfriend already has (or if she doesn't have any, strike up a conversation about it so you can gauge what her personal preference might be) and then find the perfect gift according to what she likes (be sure to snoop and get her size- the worst thing is to buy too big or too small). I suggest visiting Victoria's Secret online or Lingerie.com to find that perfect gift

Massage Tools

There is nothing more intimate than a full body massage, and what better way to set your Valentine's Day tone than with all of the tools necessary to give your girlfriend a fantastic massage. You can get massage oils and lotions, scented candles to set the mood, a special pillow for her to lay her head on during the massage or a robe for her to wear before and afterward. Giving the gift of massage is an intimate way to show her how much you care! And if you're really lucky, she might give you one too! For great deals online for massage products, visit the Massage Warehouse.

Bath Gear

There is nothing more intimate than a long, luxurious bath, so what better way to give your girlfriend some 'me' time, than with all the essentials needed for a relaxing soak in the tub. You can get her bath salts, oils, bath beads, a set of shampoo and conditioner, a sweet smelling shower gel, a new loufa, some after bath lotion or a cushion to rest her head upon. There's no better way to relax your body and your mind than a long, enjoyable bath. And who knows, if you're lucky, she might just let you join in! Bath and Bodyworks has a great selection of all the bath gear you need and they always have specials on their products. Visit them in store or on their website!

Home Cooked Meal

Maybe I'm just a sucker, but when my boyfriend cooks for me, I get a little squishy inside! In the modern world today, men cook just as often as women do, but there's just something about coming home to a candlelit table, a glass of wine and a home cooked meal prepared by your boyfriend. And when all your favorite foods come out of the oven and land on the table, it really shows that he pays attention to detail and that makes your relationship feel even more intimate. So if you are looking for a simple way to make your girlfriend swoon this Valentine's Day, think about making her a nice home cooked meal! She'll love it!

Romantic Movies

Most women are suckers for romantic movies, but it is very hard to get your boyfriend to watch them with you. A great way to spend some intimate time with your girlfriend this Valentine's Day is to buy her (or take her to) a romantic film. Yes, I know they are cheesy, but the gesture will show your girlfriend how much you care about her! So visit Half.com, Amazon.com or your local DVD retailer (I suggest Blockbuster because many times they'll have great deals on movies) and pick up a bona fide chick flick. She'll absolutely love it!

Weekend Getaway

If you've got a little extra time and a little extra cash on your hands, what better way to show your girlfriend you care than with a little romantic getaway. It doesn't have to be anywhere far, or anywhere extravagant, oftentimes you can find the perfect place right in your general area. You can pretend to be tourists in your hometown. Find a nice little bed and breakfast, walk around town, pop into shops you've never gone to before; eat at some 'off the beaten path' restaurants. It's a great way to get away without truly getting away. 'Us' time is always great, so give her what she really wants this Valentine's Day- time with you!

Heart Hunt

This is just about the sweetest thing I've ever heard, and it puts a little twist on the old 'homemade coupon' booklet. My very good friend did this for his girlfriend on her birthday, but it could work just as well for Valentine's Day. Here's what you do. When she's not home, cut out a bunch of paper hearts and hide them. You can choose how many to hide and how many rooms to hide them in. Based on the level of difficulty, on Valentine's Day, give your girlfriend a time limit and then make her hunt for the hearts! Once the time limit is up, count how many hearts she's found. Previous to the hunt, design a list of rewards and how many hearts each reward is worth. Then, let her choose how she wants to 'spend' her hearts.

I think this is a unique idea because you can go as big or as small as you want. The rewards can vary from, you doing the dishes or giving her a back rub, all the way to going out to dinner, or going to a destination of her choosing. There really is no limit to how big you can get. All you have to do is base the number of hearts hidden and the level of finding difficulty on the level of rewards.

Well I hope this helps you men out there a little bit with finding and getting unique, intimate gifts for your girlfriend this Valentine's Day. Always remember the more thought you put into it, the more she's going to love it. So surprise her this year with something fantastic! Happy Valentine's Day!
