This fall has been a very busy time for Sony as far as news is concerned. The electronics giant which has many historic milestones under its belt recently announced the discontinuation of the legendary cassette based Walkman. The portable player which was introduced in 1979 established Walkman as a house-hold name, and it is likely that the music it delivered found its way into almost every ear over the past 30 plus years. As the iconic Sony device has now made its way into history, another arrives on the scene. Now, in 2010, Google introduces Google TV, brought to you first, by of course, Sony.

Earlier this year the coming of Google TV made a lot of buzz, and was top technology news in every major media outlet. The technology which will change the way users will browse the web, adds and integrates the functionality found on every TV - media. But it doesn't stop there. The new technology is an all-in-one technology, a full web and television experience that features menus, a home screen, applications, Flash content, streaming media, social networking, television programming content and more.

Some information about Google TV. Google TV includes a "World of Apps" for your television. Featuring the Chrome Browser and Flash Player 10.1, users can browse rich web content. A Twitter client, Netflix, Amazon on Demand, Napster, and Pandora are some of the included applications. As Google TV devices are powered by Android, users will also soon have full access to the Android App store. Users who own an iPhone or Android powered phone will be happy to know that the phone can be used as a remote control for a Google TV device. Even content can be sent from a supported mobile phone to a Google TV via a "Fling" from the device.

About the Sony Internet Television. The first Google TV television product available to the public is a widescreen HDTV from Sony. Currently a variety of screen sizes are available (24", 32", 40", and 46"), and enhanced graphics capabilities are powered by having Intel inside.

The Sony Internet TV is capable of remaining up to date with seamless operating system upgrades for Google TV, and multitasking is a breeze with dual view features that allow for television viewing while browsing the Internet - or using an application. The supplied remote control includes both a built in optical mouse, and full mini-sized QWERTY keyboard for interactivity with the set. And for those users who wish to use Google TV with their existing television, Sony offers a set-top box which also includes a built in Blue-Ray player.
