The concert was sponsored by The Source Radio Network and also featured the local Christian band Living Water as well. The concert took place in the parking lot of the Double T diner across from the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick. The Vendyrs is a tight band consisting of a rhythm section featuring Wynn Stone on drums and Ryan "Reage" Rea on bass. The band is fueled by lead guitarist Amir Stephenson and rhythm guitarist Bob Roche. The Vendyrs are fronted by vocalist Tom Seym.
The Vendyrs played for over an hour on a beautiful September afternoon. The set consisted of a blend of covers and originals. The originals were limited only be the small amount of time the band had been together. The covers included songs by The Stone Temple Pilots, Hootie and the Blowfish, Blur and Pearl Jam. The originals included songs called "Only Star" and "Get With It" which the band had on a CD available for sale at the show. The Vendyrs donated half of their CD sales that afternoon to Hope Alive raising $70 for the charity. The band also played another original which they have not released yet called "Instinct." The new songs fit in perfectly with the bands selection of covers. The band had a 90's grunge feel to it with Tom's vocals. However, the band was really tight. The band simply put rocks, with tight musicians, delivering rock with the feel of young angst. The small sampling of originals gives hope for a full album offering from the band soon. The band playing for a charity and choosing to help gives hope for the youth. The Vendyrs are definitely a band to keep an ear out for in central Maryland, the Baltimore area and Washington area in the near future.
