Intuition: Getting to Know Your Own Inner Voice
The Art of Going Within when You Live in the Outer World of Reality
Intuition is a term that I used to hear about and wonder what it was. After I got to know what intuition was and that it was something that could help me improve every aspect of my life, I was thrilled beyond belief.
Little Voice Inside You
Intuition is the little voice inside you that knows what's best for you. So, you may be asking yourself, how do I get to know my own intuition? I just happen to have some answers to this question that I will share with you.
#1. Start paying attention to everything that goes on in the world around you.
#2. Listen to that little tiny voice that you have in your head.
#3. Don't be affraid to spend time alone with yourself.
#4. Listen to the silence, listen to the wind, listen to nature.
Awareness
This all revolves around the issue of awareness. Being aware of something is 90% of getting it solved and fixed. Doing the work is the easy part because if you're not even aware of it, you'll never fix it.
What Goes On In Your Head?
You might look at this and say, I live in the physical world and it doesn't matter what goes on in my head. I beg to differ on this issue because if your inner world is in chaos, your outer world will always reflect that. You will come to know what I mean if you take a realistic look at it.
Reality
I have come to the realization over the years that what goes on in reality is really a reflection of what is going on in my head. So, I used to get all flustered and stuck in my misery before I knew all this.
Life Experience
I have been through a long road of what I would call now, a rigorous life learning experience. What else would you call being evicted from your apartment, being condemned to live in the downtown YMCA with hookers and pimps? All the while, struggling with alcoholism and wanting life to get back to normal but, not being able to because of being stuck in an endless cycle of drinking. After coming into contact with all of this, what is normal?
Listen To The Silence
So, as you can see; I've been through a lot and I know what I'm talking about. The whole listening to the silence thing I started practicing when I went through a long stint of unemployment. After all, there's not much else to do when you're a social recluse and you lose everything in the world but, to listen to the silence.
Silence
Sometimes, silence is golden; for it's through the silence that you get to know who you really are and what you really want. As human beings, we are all gifted with a different ability. Some of us are good at engineering and some of us are good at science. Some are good at teaching and so forth.
Heart And Soul
When you find out what you're good at, I would advise you to not run from it, just accept it with open arms and embrace it with all of your heart and soul. Take me as an example, I knew years ago that I was good at writing but because I had this pre-concieved notion in my head that all writers wind up poor, broke, and alone; I never did anything with it and tried to avoid it at every cost.
Doing The Right Thing
When I would get lonely and bored, I would write; not because I wanted to; but, because that's what seemed like the right thing to do. It was calling me but, I wasn't listening. I didn't understand what was going on but somehow my inner voice was guiding me to write. How did I know what to write, you ask; well I just went with the flow and what was in my imagination.
Garbage?
You see, for some reason I'm able to imagine things in vivid detail and then I can put it into words that other people enjoy reading. A lot of the time I will read what I write and think that it's complete garbage but other people seem to like it.
Today
This brings me to where I am today; a poor, struggling, and broke writer starting at the bottom. I know that I have to start somewhere like we all do. Things always seem to work out better when I take responsibility for my situation and the change that I want to take place.
Never Give Up
I know there's a lesson in here somewhere but, I lost my train of thought. So, even though I lose my train of thought sometimes, I NEVER GIVE UP.
