Inventors that Made it to the Top

Top Inventors that Became Legends

Dave Bryan
It is hard to think of top inventors in the same way we do super heroes or famous stars. Yet, in a real sense, top inventors are far beyond the superficial layers surrounding perceived greatness. These famous inventors left a lasting effect on our lives and we feel the result of their efforts everyday in the products we use to the music we listen to. I am honored to present some of top inventors that ever lived.

Nicoli Tesla

We can thank Nicoli Tesla for a lot of important inventions. He invented the first remote-controlled device, AC motors and generators, and history shows he was the true inventor of radio. There is no doubt that Nicoli Tesla was a genius. Born in Croatia in 1858, he later moved to the United States to conduct his research. After a brief encounter working for Thomas Edison, he ended up working at Westinghouse. Tesla brought to the world many top inventions that helps makes us what we are as a civilization.

Michael Faraday

Michael Faraday is sometimes called the Father of the electric motor. He also invented the first generator and transformer. Farad, the unit of capacitance, is named for him. Born in 1791, Michael Faraday learned about he nature of electricity and electromagnetism. He was also good at chemistry being one that discovered benzine. His research did a lot to promote the field of electronics. How much we benefited from his work can't be measured.

Thomas Edison

The phonograph, light bulbs, motion pictures, and the first power company should be enough to qualify Thomas Edison as as top inventor. If persistence and determination are qualities of success then Thomas Edison wrote the book on it. He was born in 1847, in Ohio and had only three months of formal education. He used to surround himself with some of the best scientists he could hire to help him with his discoveries.

Leonardo De Vinci

Born in 1452, Leonardo De Vinci is the oldest top inventor on the list. He had an advantaged childhood and went to the best schools. Even though he is known as one of the world's greatest artists he was also a scientist and a musician. His scientific ideas were far beyond their time and he used scientific study, documentation, and close evaluation, preceding the scientific method. It is said that if his invention ideas had been published in the 1600s, science would have advanced at a much faster rate.

Les Paul

Lester William Polsfuss born in 1915, was a well known singer/guitarist. Les Paul is also credited as the inventor of the electric guitar. His inventions don't stop there. He figured out a way to use multi track recording in a creative way with his inventions. Le Paul also invented the hands free harmonica holder. These top inventions may not seem to be in the same league as the other inventors but the electric guitar was an important invention that was at the right time to bring us into the rock and roll era. His recording inventions helped in the recording of those moments.

These top inventors stand well above the fold. It is lucky for us they decided to use their genus for the betterment of human kind. It is time to make inventors our heroes and treat them like others we admire. It might be neat to have a Nicoli Tesla bobble-head.

Ah! You fooled me with Les Paul! I think the other scientists -- with the exception of Edison -- were among the finest technological brains to come along. Edison simply paid others for the work he was credited for. Some might dispute that. But the man was not totally bereft of brains, whether scientific or commercial. He must be given that. He was, a cruel-natured person, however, tormenting animals for his personal gain.
