Investing in Apple Supply and Accessory Companies

A Second Chance to Make Money Buying Apple Stocks

J.A. McLynne
If you put down $3000 on Apple stock instead of buying a decked out PowerBook G4 in early 2001, that stock would be worth over $100,000 dollars. If you bought the PowerBook G4 instead, then you would have $3000 less, and an Apple laptop collecting dust in the closet. Apple stock prices had a spectacular run, and you may think that you have missed out on the great buying opportunity. The truth is, you probably did miss out on a great buying chance to make some real money on the stock market.

If you are a fan of Apple products, you might also still be thinking about being a fan of Apple stock. Investing $3000 in a brand new Macbook or iMac may be not such a great idea if you can still get much more return on purchasing some shares of stock.

Take a look at some companies that supply parts and accessories for many Apple products for your next profit run in the stock market. Some of the companies that are mentioned here have already had some great runs because of the success of Apple. But there is still room to grow as Apple continues to produce popular products, that take center stage in the media, you can count on these peripheral, supply, and accessory companies continuing to cash in.

ZAGG, Inc. Sells Apple Accessories.
ZAGG, Inc. is a small company in Utah that makes protective coverings for a variety of electronic devices. They also make micro-film coverings that are used in military aviation. In recent years, ZAGG, Inc. has focused on creating products specifically for Apple products, like the iPod, iPhone, and the iPad. ZAGG, Inc. sells and distributes products with the following brand names: invisibleSHIELD, ZAGGaudio, and ZAGGskins. ZAGG is a small enough company that may be greatly affected by Apple's success. There stock share price is pretty cheap, and Apple iPhone and iPod sales will show in ZAGG, Inc.'s bottom line.

Quanta Computers Makes iPads
Quanta is well known as being the company that builds parts iPods and iPhone components, and the iPad. Quanta is also rumored to be building Research in Motion's Android "BlackPad" tablet PC. The BlackPad will be a direct competitor to the iPad, so Quanta Computers may be in line to win out either way. The computer maker has contracts with several PC makers to build notebook and laptop computers which are re-branded under the partnering company. According to Quanta's website, a third of notebooks in use today are built by Quanta.

Hon Hai Industries Builds iPhones and iPods
This is the mother company of Apple supply companies. It is based in China, and Hon Hai has a HUGE industrial complex in China that does nothing but build parts for Apple. Hon Hai has a subsidiary called FoxConn and this may be where you want to put your money. They have an industrial complex that employs nearly one million people in a small area that contains over 15 factories. Foxconn City has been under some controversy lately because there have been some suicides reported at the factory complex. With that large number of people all together in one spot, that really is no surprise.

Other companies you may want to take a look at are Belkin, makers of iHome products, and any company you see making neat Apple accessories on store shelves. Griffin Technology makes all sorts of cool products, but it is still a privately held company. If Griffin Technology ever decides to go public, you may also consider adding it to your stock portfolio.
