Investing in Neopets Halloween Neocash Items: When to Buy and when to Hoard

This past Halloween a lot of awesome looking items were given away with the redemption of Neocash cards. Some of them are worth more than others but it's a safe bet that come next Halloween all of these items will double or triple the investment price. Some of them are food items so they can only be used once; others are classified as Gifts or Toys ("Illusen Halloween Surprise Toy" and "Fyora Halloween Wind Up Toy". The books are amongst the rarest and highest priced items; people try to get them to read to their pets to qualify for the Book Award or to hoard and resell. I was lucky enough to have a NeoFriend send me a copy of "The Usuls Witching Halloween" that went straight into my gallery.

Neocash Cards are sold at a lot of retail stores; buying one of these cards nets you some extra perks and Gift Boxes that you can use to send Mall items to NeoFriends. The special bonus items you get depend on when you redeem them; if you redeem in December you will get Christmas items, redeem in October and get Halloween items. These are classified as Special so the only way to get them is from the Neocash cards; unlike things at the NC Mall, they can be sold in your shop or placed on the Trading Post. Most people will buy them for galleries but there are some that buy them just to resell at a later date. You will want to pay attention to spelling; there are some that are a little odd like the "King Altador Hallowen Juice". The last time I checked this, the spelling was not corrected.

Right now the "Scorchio Halloween Headband' and the "Scorchio Halloween Wand" are two of the cheapest items from the promotion. If you missed out on them you can still find both of them for less then 5K. The "Usul Halloween Beverage" and "Usul Halloween Cupcake" are modestly priced but still too expensive for this hoarder to buy in mass quantities. You can also find some steals on the "Illusen Halloween Storage Box"; if nothing else, it looks pretty.

The "Clockwork Halloween Flizzardo" was not an item that was given away with the NC Card when redeemed; this was something that could be inside one of the Trick-Or-Treat bags that you could receive as part of the Apple Bobbing portal at the Haunted Faire. When it first surfaced at the site it was selling for thousands of NP but the price quickly dropped when more and more people opened the bags. This is where you need to be a smart shopper and have a few knowledgeable NeoFriends that can give you the skinny so you aren't wasting Neopoints. Needless to say, this has led to a lot of Neopet scams on the Trading Post. Likewise there are items that were given away at the Apple Bobbing stand during the Halloween celebration - some of those items are still being given away now that it has become a regular daily event.
