Game Background
You begin the game as an invisible person. Picking up certain items will make you visible, allowing you to locate yourself with respect to the stage you are currently on. Get through all 25 levels by using your best intuition and reflexes.
Gameplay
The objective of the game is to get through each stage. You begin the game invisible but on the leftside of the screen, generally the bottom left hand corner of the screen. While invisible, you can still move around and jump as if you were not invisible; however, the only difference is that you cannot see where you are at any time while you are invisible, obviously. Thus, you will need to use your gut instincts and intuition to maneuever your way through each stage. Your destination of each stage is the black arrow at the right side of the screen.
As in many action platformer games, there will be obstacles in your way. These obstacles can be in the form of other platforms that you must get to first before continuing. Obstacles may be more deadly and may cost you a virtual life if you do not overcome the obstacle successfully. Avoid these to avoid losing a virtual life.
Along the way, you will see black circles that are floating in the air. These black circular items can be collected to make you visible for a short and limited time only. Once the power of the black circular dotted item disappears, you will once again be invisible. However, you can always go back and recollect the black circular dotted object. Doing this, however, is not advisable if you plan to perform well and score well for the stage you are currently on.
The faster you complete the stage, you better your performance will be and the higher you will score. Your score is displayed at the top middle of the screen. To the left of this value is the level that you are currently on. To the left of this and in the very top left hand corner of the screen, you can view how many lives you have left. At the top right hand corner of the screen, you can see a restart button that can be used to restart the level. This can be useful if you are unsure of your position and do not want to risk losing a virtual life. You can also toggle the game sound at the top right hand corner of the screen.
There are a total of 25 levels that you may complete. There are also 10 different medals that you can earn by completing certain tasks in the game. Such tasks include achieving a certain score or dying in a certain fashion. These medals can be saved if you are logged in to a Newgrounds.com user account. If you do not have a Newgrounds.com user account, you may register for one for free.
Game Review
Invisible Runner is a creative take on the old action platformer game. The graphics could use some work, but the game concept and overall gameplay are very enjoyable. The music is also a nice addition to the running-based submission. With 25 levels and 10 medals, the game offers plenty for gamers of all levels.
Invisible Runner scores an 8/10 for its creativity level and good level of entertainment.
