A life of crime and bad choices can lead to a life in prison. Have you been given the charge of manslaughter and have no idea where to turn? You must first understand the meaning of manslaughter to get a full idea of what is in store for you.
What is manslaughter? This is the killing of another human being with no malice. Malice is not wishing to harm someone. This is similar to having no intent to bring harm to another person. Manslaughter is broken down into voluntary and involuntary.
Here are the differences between voluntary and involuntary manslaughter.
Voluntary manslaughter is the intentional killing of another human being. This is reduced from the act of murder. This is determined by circumstances surrounding the case. Voluntary manslaughter is often reduced due to certain circumstances such as "heat of the moment." Heat of the moment crimes can lead to manslaughter.
Involuntary manslaughter has no intent to kill. Involuntary is just as serious as voluntary manslaughter. Bodily harm isn't intended. This is homicide. Involuntary manslaughter usually occurs within a criminal act such as negligence.
The essential difference is the intent. Killing is wrong. Circumstances will determine whether it will be voluntary or involuntary manslaughter. Both manslaughter charges are serious crimes. Involuntary and voluntary have something in common, and that is they are homicides.
If you have been charged with either manslaughter, it is best to do your homework. You do not want to be left out in the dark, not knowing what your future holds for you. Your life isn't over. It simply is on hold for awhile. Researching your charge and crime on your own gives you an advantage over your case.
These manslaughter charges are murder but are still serious. You can spend several years behind bars if found guilty. There are consequences for everything we do in life. You cannot erase the past but you can learn from what happened. If you are found guilty, you can help others to prevent others from making the same mistakes you did. You can help someone.
Life does go on. Your action doesn't just affect your life. It affects all those who were involved. Families are torn apart. Lives are forever changed. You cannot erase the hands of the clock and change what happened. You cannot go back in time. You can however, help others who may be going down the same path you did.
