Involve Your Group with Esperanza Community Services

In an attempt to get involved with, and give back to the community, myself and a group of my co-workers were looking for a volunteer opportunity that could accommodate groups of volunteers. We came across Esperanza Community Services, located at 520 North Marshfield Avenue in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, that is an organization that helps people with disabilities enhance their lives and increase awareness throughout the community.

I was interested in the gardening opportunity because I enjoy working outdoors, planting, landscaping and gardening.

Although a few of my co-workers did not have any gardening experience, they were still able to help with landscaping maintenance and general clean-up. Other group activities that are available throughout the year include painting classrooms and hosting mailing parties. If you prefer volunteering on your own, you might be interested in being a board member, helping with the mentoring program, or being an art program volunteer.
