I/O Triple Play Review

I recently added the I/O triple play to my home, it offers cable modem, cable TV, and phone for $99 dollars a month. This seemed like a great deal at the time, so I was all for it, as I still had basic cable and a phone service with no long distance plan. The Optimum phone plan lets you call anywhere in the United States free, my old phone plan used to charge me for long distance calls in the U.S so this was a relief. Also, I had a DSL plan, which was about $40 dollar a month and my regular cable with Cablevision. I was paying almost $200 for the services I got with optimum so needless to say, it was a cost cutter.

The cable modem is fast, and it rarely ever goes out. It has been pretty reliable. One thing I do not like is that the phone goes through the cable modem so if the cable modem does ever go down then there is no phone. Optimum's I/O triple play is really a double play, in the sense that your effectively only talking through your modem, and not an actual phone line. They also do cap the band with if you download or upload to much, and you have to pay extra a month if you want to host a server.

The I/O triple play Optimum phone which goes through the cable modem is clear and the voice quality is pretty good. Sometimes, it will have some static on it if the modem isn't getting good reception from the I/O triple play cable modem. Like I stated before, it is free to call anywhere in the country, which is a major plus, but most carriers these days offer that feature. It's basically become a general feature you expect with a phone service these days.

The I/O triple play Optimum cable box is pretty good, but plan on buying a box for every room as they just cut several stations including, AMC, Comedy Central, and others. This really upset me, because I don't want a cable box for every T.V in my house. Also, the channels on the actual box have been getting less and less, and you could end up paying a whole lot of money for channels like HBO,Show time and NFL Network. What's the point in having a cable box if I don't get all of these channels already?
