I initially purchased the Apple iPad on April 3, 2010 and I loved the device because I found it easy to use and enjoyed the large screen gaming in touch concept. I loved the ability to control games by moving the device but I hated that the Wifi version would not connect to the Internet. I found that this version even had trouble connecting to weak signals when I was on my home network and this meant I couldn't use the iPad for anything more than playing music unless I went to an Internet café and so this reason I gave the Wifi version away as a gift to my sister and purchased the 3G version of the iPad. The main difference is that the iPad 3G version comes with the ability to connect to the Internet through built in wireless service from AT$T. Also, when 3G service it is not available it will connect through an EDGE connection and this means you will always be able to use the Internet regardless of where you go. I purchased the 16GB model and the cost was $629 at the Apple Store and it requires that you pay $30 a month for the unlimited internet service in addition to this price.
The iPad 3G is about half a pound heavier than the Wifi version and the 3G version has a black plastic piece of the back of the iPad that is used to connect to the Internet service. There is also a GPS chip in the 3G version that will allow applications to automatically find your location without having to set it yourself. This device is worth it because of the unlimited Internet capability. This review is based on personal experience, but more information on this device can be found here.
