Ipanema's: Seattle's Buffet Restaurant for a Meat-Eating Guy's Night Out

Rose Ellen
My friends have very strong opinions when it comes to meat. Some are vegetarian, vegan, or want to be. Some are almost carnivorous. They enjoy eating meat and they enjoy it in mass quantities. This summer we took a friend into downtown Seattle for his birthday. We went to Ipanema's, a Brazilian buffet restaurant. It was pricey but classy and the food was worth every penny.

I'm a girl, so what would I know about a Guy's night out? Well, it really depends on the guy. The guys I hang with enjoy good food, company of friends, and perhaps some alcohol on the side. Ipanema's is a great place for all of these features.

Good Food

The buffet food has two parts to it. First, there is the meat selection. The meat selections come around with wait staff. Large skewers of meat make rounds throughout the restaurant to tables with the green side of their card showing. This tells the staff that more meat is wanted. Staff then announces the meat they are carrying. The guys then indicate whether they want some of the meat and then it is sliced off for them. The meat is so delicious you naturally slow down to enjoy it. The meat also comes so fast that your plate is never empty. Keep track of the meat you like because after all the skewers of meat have made the rounds, they'll come around again.

Then there is the buffet cold line. While I don't recommend bringing a vegetarian to a meat buffet, a vegetarian would still have plenty of options. Just getting the buffet salad bar without the meat is cheaper and it contains wonderful salads, fruit options, rolls, and even some warm starchy dishes. The salad bar options also clear a guys palate between the meat.

Company of Friends

The atmosphere in the Seattle restaurant is classy and relaxed. There is enough bustle and noise that you can be a regular guy, but not so loud that you can't hear your guy friends. If you are a guy with a nervous and jealous significant other, a bar-alternative such as Ipanema's allows you to spend time with your guy friends without them worrying about you picking up other women.

Alcohol

Ipanema's has a wide range of alcohol available. There are some standards like beer on tap and in bottles. They also have both red and white wine. Their mixed drinks are amazing in both the Brazilian and non Brazilian variety. Whatever a guy's taste in alcohol, he'll find something at Ipanema's.

So good atmosphere, good alcohol, and amazing meat buffet make Ipanema's an ideal location for a Seattle guy's night out.
