iPhone 4 Rumors: Antenna Problems and Explanation from Apple

The New iPhone 4 Does Not Come Without Its Problems

Soon after the release of the iPhone 4, numerous happy owners faced disappointment as their new phone seemed to lose reception as they touched the stainless steel band on the back of the iPhone where the internal antenna is located. Evidence videos were posted on youtube showing how the service bar drops rapidly when the steel band is touched by human skin. For those who are left handed, the band is much more often touched, making it even more of a problem.

iPhone Bugs

Those who have just gotten the new iPhone have been disappointed by this bug. Besides this strange phenomena, the iPhone also has reportedly much worse reception than the previous version. Many people have reported lost calls with their new phone, a problem that makes AT&T's already notorious service more infamous. The other major bug of the iPhone is that some of the devices develop yellow spots and lines on the high definition screen. Those who have reported this bug have been given a new replacement iPhone. Apple has announced that these yellow spots may fade in a couple of days and as a result of a bonding drying agent. These phones have been shipped so quickly from the assembly lines that they may not have had enough time to properly dry before being operated.

Apple's Responseto the Antenna Bug

Apple have yet to admit that there is any real connection between touching the iPhone in a certain spot and losing reception. Instead, Apple says that the real problem is a software one that causes the iPhone to seem to have more service than it actually does, as displayed by its bars. Apple says that this problem has actually existed since the first iPhone due to a faulty formula within the system, but it has never been caught before. There will be a patch released by Apple in a couple of weeks, they have said. This update will work on the iPhone 4 and the two latest versions of the iPhone 3G.

iPhone 4 Still Sells Like Crazy

Despite these bugs, the iPhone 4 has been sold by the hundreds of thousands and will no doubt continue to sell like crazy. If Apple is quick to correct these problems, they will be back golden in the eyes of the masses. The iPhone continues to lead the way near, if not at, the top of the smartphone competition.
