In a recent press release, Altec Lansing, a division of Plantronics, has introduced several headphones to be used with MP3 players and multimedia phones, including the iPhone. Altec Lansing announced that their headphones series which is available with and without microphone, depending on your choice, provides consumers with an "upgrade" in sound quality, individualized style, and fit over generic bundled headphones.
The new Upgrader Series Headphones features a microphone and a convertible adapter so you can connect with the iPhone as well as most mobile phones in the market. The convertible adapter that comes with the headphones is a gold plated 1/4-inch (3.5mm), four-band connector that will fit the iPhone's unique audio jack.
Robert Heiblim, senior vice president of Marketing for Altec Lansing said, "As mobile phones and multimedia devices expand their content capabilities to include music, video, games, and the Internet, consumers are demanding headphones that deliver truly immersive experiences. Altec Lansing's new Upgrader Series provides just that. By selecting a fit that matches their personal lifestyle, consumers achieve optimal comfort and superb audio for listening and conversations."
Another company that launched a product compatible with the iPhone is Inflightpower.com. In their press release, the company announced the introduction of the Inflight Power iPhone recharging cable that will be capable of recharging the new Apple iPhone while traveling.
According to InFlightPower.com, the device is patented and works by storing the energy from the passenger seat music jack and then outputs the regulated power to the attached USB charging cable/connector. The cable will work on first class, business/coach class seats. The InFlight Power cable only weighs 3 oz, perfect for travelers and safe to use on an airplane, bus or train. Non-iPhone users don't have to feel left out, the interchangeable InFlight Power USB cable can also be used to recharge other mobile phones and portable game units.
"This is a must-have for the business traveler or anyone on the move who wants to keep their power charge," said Thomas Giannulli, the product's inventor.
Altec Lansing's Upgrader Series will be available in August 2007 but customers can get more information about the Upgrader portfolio, including pricing at http://www.plantronics.com/launch. The InFlight Power iPhone recharging cable is already available online at the company's website: http://www.inflightpower.com.
