iPhone App Review: My Medical App
My Medical App for iPhone and iTouch Keeps Track of All Your Medical Information
My Medical app, produced by Steven Chaitoff, allows you to store your medical information in one place. It will be at your fingertips on your iPhone. Never get caught again not knowing a date or name of a particular medical event/procedure you experienced. With My Medical app, just pull out your iPhone to view all your medical information in one convenient place.
Entering medical information on the My Medical app can be done with your computer, if you prefer to use a full-size keyboard. To do so, users must visit the My Medical app website, enter all info there, and then send it to their own iPhones. The capacity to enter all data online is a desirable feature of the My Medical app.
Allergies, immunization records and dates of doctors' appointments can be stored in the My Medical app. Also, records of the medical procedures you have undergone and when can be entered into the My Medical app. Contact information for your doctors is also stored in the My Medical app. You can even list your emergency contacts so they can be easily accessed in the event you are unable, for some reason, to tell medical personnel the information. Of course, your past and current medication lists including dosages can be kept in the My Medical app.
My Medical App Features and Descriptions
The opening screen of the My Medical app opens with a "My Information" option at the top. Also on this screen, you may password-protect your medical information on the My Medical app. Feedback on the app can be given directly to the makers by tapping "Give Feedback." A "Help" function is also found here.
Tapping the My Information option leads to a screen with the following exhaustive choices:
Emergency Contacts-Type in all your emergency contacts' information. You may enter as many emergency contacts as you like.
General Information-Includes your "Personal Information," (name, birthdate, and blood type). Other info to be entered in this feature is "Employment" (employer and occupation), and "Social History" (short series of questions to be answered about exercise, tobacco use, and use of alcohol and other recreational drugs).
Medications-Drug names, dosages, frequency of dosage, and why you are taking each drug are kept in this section of the My Medical app.
Past Medications-Includes dates you used a particular med as well as the reason you stopped taking it. Miscellaneous notes for each med can be made, in case you need to note something about a past med for future reference.
Dietary Supplements-List supplements like calcium, Vitamin E, and Omega 3. Include "Name," "Type," "Quantity," and "Why Taking" for each supplement.
Lab Tests & Procedures-This feature is particularly helpful. "Upcoming Tests" option is found here. Enter the test type, the date you'll be taking the test, the location, and any other note necessary in this section of the My Medical app. Tapping "Lab Results" brings up a list of choices of tests. Although many are listed, included are blood glucose, blood pressure, bone density, cholesterol, and colonoscopy. Tapping specific tests brings another screen for dates, test info, and results.
Diagnoses-Tapping "Diagnoses" brings these options--"Onset", "Diagnosis", and "Treatment." This section of My Medical app is for keeping track of all your diagnoses.
Allergies-Enter your allergies in this section of the My Medical app.
Immunizations-All vaccines and when you received them are entered here.
Surgeries-This option asks for "date," "Procedure," and "Result" for surgeries.
Physicians-Enter physicians' "Name," "Type," and "Phone" to have with you at all times in the My Medical app.
Recent Office Visits-Type in "Date," "Doctor," "Purpose," and "Outcome" for your office visits.
Hospitalizations-This section of My Medical app keeps track of "Date," "Reason," "Outcome," "Hospital," and "Stay Length."
Family History-Keep medical histories for your significant relatives here. Simply type in your relative's relationship to you, for example, "father" and record his health problem(s).
Health Insurance-Keep track of your health insurance company's name, coverage level, and co-pay amounts in this section of the My Medical app.
Advance Directives-This feature asks if you have a living will and/or a durable power of attorney for health reasons. If so, enter who has your power of attorney.
Illnesses & Injuries-Necessary info to enter in this section of My Medical app are "Onset," "Description," "Recovery," and any notes you want to make about illnesses and injuries.
Beneath the above list of options on the My Medical app, you will find just 3 more selections:
View Information as Text-Presents your entire medical record, beginning with the general information and ending with your emergency contacts as a text document.
Send Information by Email-Lists your entire record in the body of an email. All you have to do when you select this option on the My Medical app is type in the email address of the person you want to email it to (press "send," of course).
Back Up or Send to Another Device-Allows you to send data in an email to yourself to have as a backup. You can, of course, send it to someone else. The copy you send to others can even be imported into their own My Medical app on their iPhone.
Cost of My Medical App by Steven Chaitoff
$1.99. No doubt, the My Medical app is an incredible deal, given how it will be there to help you all your life, as long as you keep your medical information in the app up to date.
ITunes Reviews of the My Medical App
The current version of the My Medical app has just 16 reviews on iTunes. The average review was 4 out of 5 stars. Most of the reviewers said it is a "great" app that is well worth the money spent for it. A few reviewers suggested a minor glitch of emergency contact phone numbers not showing up in the final text if the email function is selected.
Recommended Users for the My Medical App
Recommended users for My Medical app include virtually anyone willing to do the upfront task of entering their medical information.
Disadvantages of the My Medical App
For the My Medical app to be helpful, you must enter all historical medical info. Many do not save copies of medical info from various doctors, so they would not have the info to put in My Medical app. Others, like this reviewer, have a thick medical file in possession. In that case, the entire file must be gone through and important health events entered in the My Medical app. Some may see this initial entering of info an enormous task. However, this reviewer found that doing it a bit at a time, say for an hour a week, will make the task easier. Besides, any other medical app asks for similar info (although is not as complete).
Final Words on the My Medical App
The My Medical app by Steven Chaitoff is one of the most comprehensive health-keeping apps on the market right now. In essence, you can store your entire medical history and carry it with you at all times. If you have an accident, your partner or rescue personnel can check your iPhone for My Medical app and your health info.
Another important aspect of My Medical app is that you can enter the medical information and history on as many people as you like. So, you can have medical info for your spouse, each of your kids and even your mom and dad on your My Medical app, if you wish. The opportunity to enter the info at My Medical app website with a full-size keyboard makes it easy and convenient.
The organizational value of the My Medical app is tremendous. Plus, it can help prevent medical errors, as you will have proper dates and info on meds and allergies with you when you need them. This reviewer believes every owner of an iPhone or iTouch should have the My Medical app.
Rating for Steven Chaitoff's My Medical App

This sounds like an amazing tool. It is hard to remember all the information, and other family members wouldn't have it.
