IPhone Owners, Jobs is Giving You a $100 Apple Credit

Apparently, the Squeaky Wheel DOES Get the Oil ....in The Form of a $100 Credit

When Steve Jobs announced the price drop of the Apple iPhone by $200, he pissed off a lot of iPhone users who paid the original price just two months prior. "We want to do the right thing for our valued iPhone customers," Jobs said. "We apologize for disappointing some of you, and we are doing our best to live up to your high expectations of Apple."

While it is understandable that Apple's iPhone customers are angry, shouldn't the price reduction have been expected? Prices usually drop at least 20% on tech products within the first year of launch. After all, no one told iPhone customers to hurry up and purchase iPhone devices to stay ahead of the Jones. However, iPhone customer satisfaction is important to Jobs. So, he is offering "me-first" iPhone customers a $100 Apple credit in an attempt to make peace with loyal iPhone users.

Interestingly enough, many techies believe that this credit might prove to be a bad move for Apple. Will Apple have to explain themselves each time one of their models become obsolete?

In Steve's open letter he says, "...being in technology for 30+ years I can attest to the fact that the technology road is bumpy. There is always change and improvement, and there is always someone who bought a product before a particular cut-off date and misses the new price or the new operating system or the new whatever. This is life in the technology lane. If you always wait for the next price cut or to buy the new improved model, you'll never buy any technology product because there is always something better and less expensive on the horizon. The good news is that if you buy products from companies that support them well, like Apple tries to do, you will receive years of useful and satisfying service from them even as newer models are introduced."

Some techies believe that the $100 credit is a great business decision on Apple's part because some of Apple's biggest supporters are users who purchased the iPhone early so it makes sense to keep these loyal iPhone users happy.

The tech rumor mill says that Apple is simply making way for the next generation of iPhones.
