iPod Classic Vs. iPod Touch: The Perfect Christmas Gift

Which iPod is the Best Deal?

Heidi Adams
It is that time of year again...Christmas time is upon us and with the release of the Apple iPod touch, consumers are going crazy to get their hands on the latest iPod released by apple, but is the new iPod touch worth the price when compared with the Apple iPod classic? It really depends on what you are looking for as far as features and price. Either iPod would make the perfect Christmas Gift, and choosing the right iPod for that special person on your list really comes down to two things...price and features.

The iPod touch, the newest release of the Apple iPod products, allows the user to listen to music, watch movies, TV shows, download videos, audio books, pod casts, and even photo slide shows. The iPod touch is a full touch screen that allows the user to choose options with the touch of their fingertips. Its sleek 8 mm design is appealing to consumers. Your color option for the iPod touch is black only. Memory for the iPod touch ranges from 8 Gigabytes to 16 Gigabytes and the iPod touch also has Wi-Fi capability. Price range for this item is $299.00 for the 8GB(up to 1750 songs) model and $399.00 for the 16GB(up to 3500 songs) model. Another interesting feature of the iPod touch is the 3.5 inch Wide screen color display that has a multi touch interface that allows you to pull up songs, photo slide shows, and video all at the same time. The touch screen also has an acclomater-which allows the screen to change from vertical to horizontal based on movement of the iPod. The music playback battery life lasts approximately 22 hours. Video playback battery life lasts up to five hours on the iPod touch. The iPod touch allows you to store anywhere from 10 hours of video on the 8GB version and 20 hours of video on the 16GB version. The level of memory and the sleek touch screen design are the most appealing feature of this iPod. If you are buying a Christmas gift for someone who would prefer design over practicality, the iPod touch will make the perfect gift for the special someone on your list this Christmas.

The iPod classic was released by Apple just before the iPod touch. The iPod classic is visually similar to the traditional iPods with the flickr screen and 2.5 inch LCD display for video, and song lists. It has increased memory with an 80GB model and a 160GB model. This is an astounding amount of memory. The iPod classic would be perfect for someone who really enjoys downloading music, videos, and photos. Either level of memory will allow the user to store tons of their favorite songs and videos. The 80GB model will hold up to 20,000 songs and is priced at $249.00 which is 50.00 cheaper than the iPod touch. The 160GB model of the iPod classic will hold up to 40,000 songs and is priced at $349.00. Battery life for the 80GB model use for video is up to 100 hours. The 160 GB model battery life for video is up to 200 hours of use time. Battery life for music playback is 30 hours for the 80GB, and 40 hours for the 160GB model. The iPod classic has a longer battery life and offers a lot more storage than the ipod touch. The color choices for the iPod classic are black and silver.

Either iPod would be perfect for someone on your Christmas list this year. Choosing the right iPod is as simple as deciding what the recipient would prefer based on practicality and design. If they aren't concerned with memory or battery life and are looking for something sophisticated and visually appealing-then go with the iPod touch. If they would get more enjoyment from the large amount of storage, and extended battery life-then go with the iPod classic.

i think they mean thats how many hours of video will fit on the 80gb classic=100 hours of video, not the amount of time u can play it.

  • yoo3/23/2008

Yea its more like 5 hours..but if it was really 100 hours that would be a dream and the price tag wouldnt be 249 or 349

    WTF terrible article

"Battery life for the 80GB model use for video is up to 100 hours. The 160 GB model battery life for video is up to 200 hours of use time."
