IPod Nano 3rd Generation Review

The 4GB iPod Nano 3rd generation just went on clearance at the Apple store for $89.99, this is a great price for an iPod Nano especially because this iPod Nano plays video. Now the iPod Nano 3rd generation came out in 2007, and to much fanfare because of the fact it played video. The 4th generation iPod Nano came out in September 2008, and it was even smaller. However some prefer the design of the 3rd generation iPod to the 4th generation. The screen on the 3rd generation iPod is wider while the screen on the newer iPod is stretched vertically. The screen on the newer iPod is bigger, and the newer iPod is lighter.

The one gripe i have with the iPod Nano 3rd generation is that the lower end model only holds 4GB and this really isn't enough to hold video. It would hold about four movies, but no music. Alternatively the 4GB iPod, which is the one that is on sale for $89.99 right now, holds about 800 songs. Now 800 songs is pretty good, but then there is no room for video, games or whatever else you can put on here. 8GB is just enough to be sufficient enough to not have to constantly sync your iPod with your iTunes library. The newer regular size iPods hold an incredible 120GB and up which is more then enough to last you pretty much forever, without having to sync back to your iTunes library ever again.

These iPods suffer from the white screen of death often, just as the older iPods did. I got a white screen of death on an iPod Nano 4th generation as well. So the white screen of death is just something we are going to have to get used to for the time being. I have been waiting for the iPod Nano 3rd generation to come down in price for a while. Apple originally priced the iPod at a price to high for me around $150 I believe it was, and the 4th generation currently sells for around $135 dollars.

In conclusion, the iPod Nano 3rd generation by Apple was the first device of it's size to play video and music and all types of media. It is essentially a tiny computer, that fits in the palm of your hand. It is definitely a teacher or a bosses worst nightmare. That is one thing that I know, because I can't resist the urge to bring it to work or to class with me!
