Let's start with the main attraction of the new Nano. This is the video camera. It shoots video with twelve effects. The camera is at the bottom of the iPod Nano, and the microphone is built it. These is not yet compatibility for external microphones, but I think they will be available soon enough. The camera's video is very nice, considering the size of the lens and the small processor.
Next there is the FM Radio. This is new to the iPod Nano, and is a very cool feature. Though the iPod Nano has built in speakers, it does not have a built in antenna. Headphones must be plugged in to access the FM Radio. They don't have to be the Apple Headphones, they can be almost any set, but you can't use the radio without them.
Voice Memos is also new to the iPod Nano. It allows you to record speech, music, pretty much anything. This is nice. Sometimes you need bo be able to record something, but don't have time to activate the video camera. This is the true use for the voice memos.
Not new to the Nano is the accelerometer. This allows the iPod Nano to know when it is being turned. When you flip the iPod Nano sideways, you will open cover flow, where you can see all the album covers of all your albums. You can "flow" through these covers. Many people disable this feature, because sometimes it gets annoying, but the iPod Nano can shake to shuffle. If you shake the iPod, it will go to a new song on the playlist you are listening to, and then shuffle the playlist.
All in all, the iPod Nano is awesome. It can hold a ton of songs, play a few full-length movies and shoot movies of its own. Sometimes tilting the iPod is awkward, because the headphone jack gets in the way if it is plugged in. This can be easily remedied by tilting the iPod the other direction. I would rate this machine a 10 out of 10.
