iPod Nano Chromatic: What's New?

Seven years ago, one of the most popular things of our day and age began its course. The iPod. Even now at 2008 it is still at the top of its game. There are currently four different models of the iPod digital music player; the Shuffle, Nano, Classic, and Touch. The latest big news is the update to the iPod Nano. It has received a design update as well as memory size upgrades, now letting you choose between 8GB and 16GB versions. As for the design, the new iPod Nanos weigh in at only 1.3 ounces, with a 2 inch (diagonally) screen. The battery life remains at the Nano standard of 24 hours of music, and 4 hours of Video playback. One thing about the iPod Nano that might appeal to some is that it is built to be extra environmentally friendly as it is made out of highly recyclable aluminum.

The new Nano does add some interesting new features as well. "Genius" is the new feature that's getting the most attention. By starting Genius, your iPod will instantly make a playlist based on songs that it thinks will go together well. So if you just can't decide what to listen to, all you have to do is let Genius sort you a playlist. Another feature to help you get the most of your songs is "shake to shuffle", a feature that lets you shake your iPod to make it pick a random song out of your music library. If the small screen bothers you, all you have to do is tilt the Nano to the side to get it to switch to widescreen mode. This makes watching videos and movies a bit more enjoyable. Last but certainly not least, there are now games available for the Nano Chromatic that take advantage of its tilting features. Tilting the Nano in different directions can make your character move around in that direction. All in all, the Chromatic is an interesting addition to the iPod family. They are available now from the Apple website.
