Iran Promises to Deliver "Telling Blow" to Global Powers on February 11th

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Rattles Saber at Obama Administration

What is it with Iran and Democratic presidential administrations in this country anyway? Ever since President Obama has taken office, everyone's favorite little dictator, with one serious case of nuclear weapons envy, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has engaged in an ongoing game of saber rattling.

Iran's official media outlet, Press TV is reporting that Iran will deliver a harsh blow to the "global arrogance" on February 11th. (Gee, does this mean an early Valentine's present?)

February 11th is significant because it marks the date of the Iranian Revolution, also known as the Islamic Revolution, of 1979, when the Ayatollah Khomeini, who favored a theocratic government, overthrew the pro-Western Shah (king), Muhammad Reza Pahlavi. Every year, Iranians celebrate the revolution the streets of Tehran and around the country of Iran, as they have for the past 31 years.

The last time Ahmadinejad stirred up such a fuss for an American president was actually during the Iranian revolution, when Democratic President, Jimmy Carter, (and we all know that went well) was in office. In November 1979, Islamic students and militants stormed the American Embassy in Tehran and took 66 Americans hostage, holding them for 444 days.

Though he denies being a part of the revolution and rather actually opposing it, the American hostages, say that Ahmadinejad was in fact, one of their captors. Photographs have also surfaced showing a man standing happily with the Ayatollah Khomeini, who looks remarkably like Ahmadinejad. But, I suppose that's neither here nor there now.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is known for incendiary comments about the West in general and has made no secret of his hate for us all, even declaring the United States "The Great Satan." In addition, Ahmadinejad has frequently called for the destruction and annihilation of the state of Israel off the face of the earth.

Whether Ahmadinejad's comments are a response to the United States deploying a missile shield to protect American allies in the Gulf from attack by Tehran or just more grandstanding by the tiny despot dictator, remains to be seen. But, one thing is for sure, Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadninejad will remain a thorn in Barack Obama's political side and will continue to test his resolve and mettle and whether or not he has the stomach for war.

    hello Rev. Blair,

Thank you for your comment. I couldn't agree more, frankly. I think he needs to be taken very seriously.

    Thanks for your perspective.

When the leader of Iran makes these proclamations he is doing it out of his own understanding of God's will, which is the real scary part. He should be taken seriously. If he says I will wipe Israel off the map then he truly has the will to do it, but hopefully at this point does not have the means. The administration must take him more seriously than her citizens with the recent military presence in that part of the world. As the author of the book "Final Warning" we need to take him seriously
