After 9/11, our world changed right before our eyes. That morning we woke up was not the same world when we went to bed that night. Though the Iraq was marketed as a "war against terrorism", It didn't seem to fit the bill. After all, it wasn't Saddam Hussein who was behind the attacks; it was Osama bin Laden.
As we enter the sixth year of the war, it has been a hot topic among politicians and citizens alike. Many people didn't agree with the war from the very start, though many others did. As the war took its toll on the economy, families and the news came out that there were no "nukes" in Iraq quickly sent the approval rate for the war down. And not just in the US. Many other nations started to dislike our decision to go to war.
What will this do to the war in Iraq? From all looks of it, It has no effect on the war itself. Though it more likely will effect the election. As the topic of the war is already a huge debut been pushed back by other headline news(economy, personal attacks on Presidential hopefuls come to mind), will likely come back into the for front with these headlines. It will be fuel for the Democrats and could hurt McCain's quest for the White House. As McCain is pro-war, and has stood behind the issue so far the whole way could come back to haunt him. Obama and Clinton will use this to push on why they should be chosen to run on the Democrats' side of the election ticket.
As I look back on all through the years thus far since the war began, I can say at first I was pro-war for this but as time went on and the lies came out my mind has changed. Will this effect my vote? No, as I feel of now I don't see any of them being worth my time or vote. Will my mind change before the November Elections? Perhaps-but on the other hand as well, perhaps not. Only time will see.

Post a CommentGreat article. This war is senseless.
Great reporting on this sad!!!!!!!!
Good article, yet without getting much into politics voting to Mc Cain is to vote for war.. I know it is going to be difficult for any President to end war but it's worth to give try to Nominee who are atleast willing to end the war.

Wow...I had no idea. Excellent journalistic reporting but very sad about our soldiers.
Very sad. This seems a useless war.
It is sad to hear of the 4000 soldiers that have been killed in the last five years. But even sadder is the 4000 innocent lives that are killed in their mothers wombs everyday in America, yet the media wants to ignore it.
