Irate Steven Slater, JetBlue Flight Attendant Wants Old Job Back?
Should JetBlue Ground Steven Slater, or Put Him Back in the Air
Slater was arrested and charged with various crimes, leaving himself open to the possibility of going to jail for up to 7 years.
Now, the man who said he "had enough" has decided he wants his job. Well, technically he's not fired yet - he's just under investigation. However, given the circumstance it's kind of odd that he wishes to come back.
Aviation is in His Blood
Steven Slater's family lives in the sky. No, not really - but his father is a pilot and his mother a flight attendant. Given the family background, this is his life. For the past 20 years (he said 28, but he's only 38 - so that puts him at work at 10 and that's illegal) he has been in the aviation industry, working for a variety of carriers. He's lost friends during the TWA crash and also 9/11. This is his life. This would be like a doctor saying he's never going to practice medicine again, choosing a life of retail instead.
Is He a Legal Liability?
The question that the airline will have to answer is this - is Steven Slater a legal liability? After all, he could have severely injured someone had the exit chute hit them. His lawyer contends that he viewed the tarmac below him and ensured that he wouldn't cause harm ... but how much can we trust that?
IF Steven Slater, the Jet Blue flight attendant, is capable of activating the emergency chute just because he had a melt down, what else could he do? If he had attacked a passenger, would it be as shocking? Could he do that?
Steven Slater has become a cult success. People support him through and through. Facebook pages are erected in his honor and many are saying that he acted where action was needed.
So what do you think? Should Steven Slater head back to the sky, or should he just stay grounded. Does he have the mental stability to keep from becoming a legal liability, or is he just a bad lawsuit waiting to happen?
So many questions need to be answered. In the meantime, I am still hoping they turn this story into a reality TV show or movie

Post a CommentThe fact that he freaked out, so over the top,And deployed the emergency slide, something he had always thought about doing,(for fun I guess)Then yelled and cursed at everybody, for no apparent reason, then stole two beers and went home to get drunk.Yeah he's a hero.Yeah right. This is the fabulous flight attendant that should be given a raise at Jet Blue,(Or I don't know maybe Fired!).Or rewarded with some twisted stupid TV show about whinning employees who complain about everthing,Un-Ahh...sister...two finger snaps!!!and another Un-Ahh...you know what I am saying?!.He should fired! grounded! No benefits no unemployment.Get Real!
I wouldn't hire him for ANYTHING! I mean what if he has a meltdown while waiting tables or caring for small children? It's great that he committed to a job for 20 years (since he was 10) and he did what we all have wanted to do BUT he should've thought about the consequences BEFORE he acted. Ps. if he were to get his job back don't you think other passengers will either cower from him or mess with him just to see what he does next?
Steven can be replaced by a pop and vending machine!!!! If you have any questions, consult your seatback info card BYE BYE Steven
I doubt he's a mental health threat. I'm more bummed that the story just isn't the same with him wanting to crawl back on his hands and knees.
I sure would not be on a plane with that flake!
Good article. I think he's a big legal liability for himself more than the company because his story is unraveling. I think the fact that stewards - or any airline personnel think they can order airline industry consumers is the problem. This guy was out of control! Great subject... I really should write my own article about this loony.
