IrfanView Batch Conversion Tutorial

What exactly is IrfanView? It's a freeware graphics viewer that is both compact, and easy to use. There are two ways to access IrfanView's Batch tool. You can either go to File>Batch Conversion/Rename, or simply press "B" after starting the program. Pick your poison.

Upon locating the files you want to rename or convert, you will notice just how mighty this little program really is. Aside from handling image files, IrfanView can be used to modify numerous video and audio formats. Find your files, then click "Add" or "Add all"

If you already know what you want to modify, you have three options to choose from. Convert many files to another format at once(Batch conversion). Rename a group of files(Batch rename). Or, you can do both to a group of files(Batch conversion - Rename result files).

Under "Batch conversion settings", use the drop down menu to select the format in which you want your files changed to. For example, If you wanted to change .gif files to a format readable by Fighter Factory, PCX - Zsoft Paintbrush would be the ideal choice.

The rename settings should be self explanatory. Output directory is the location you want converted files to be placed. You can choose a new folder, or select your look in folder. That means your converted files would be placed with your original files.

There isn't much more to say. Once you have selected your files and desired actions, you only need to press the "Start Batch" button. The normally painful process of converting a plethora of files is made easy by this small yet very useful program.
