Irish Car Bomb Shots

Irish Car Bombs are a delicious and fun way to celebrate any occasion. Although the ingredients may not sound like they go well together, the drink is creamy and delicious.

To begin the Irish Car Bomb, some glassware is necessary. There are two options here. The traditional method of serving the Car Bomb and other drop shots uses a standard pint glass and a standard 1.5 ounce shot glass.

With the increasing popularity of drop shots like the Car Bomb, the "O" Bomb, and the Jager Bomb, however, came the spread of the myth of cracked teeth. Although feasible and believable, I have never seen the shot glass crack anyone's teeth. For those who are concerned about this, though, somebody has invented the solution. There are small plastic cups, available at many liquor stores, which contain a built-in well for the shot.

These special plastic cups, however, are the only plastic cups which should be used for car bombs, because plastic shot glasses don't sink. While Jager Bombs, Lunchboxes, and other drop shots can be poured "dirty" with all of the liquor poured directly into the drink, Car Bombs cannot, because the Bailey's will begin to curdle.

Now, for the ingredients. For an Irish Car Bomb, three ingredients are needed:

8 oz. Irish stout

.75 oz. Irish whiskey

.75 oz Irish cream liqueur

Although any brand can be used, the three most popular, which will also lead to the most consistently delicious cocktail, are Guinness, Jameson, and Bailey's.

Simply pour the stout in the pint glass, and the whiskey and Irish cream in the shot glass. Now find some friends, raise your glasses, drop the shot into the beer, and enjoy. The last one done buys the next round.
