Irish Gifts at 'Irish on Grand': the Oldest Irish Store in the Twin Cities (MN)

Irish on Grand is a Community Hub - a Great Place to Shop and Also to Chat

R.C. Johnson
Irish on Grand is a grand shop for locating just the right Irish gift. It is the oldest Irish store in the Twin Cities, Minn. area, and as such is recognized as not only being a premier shop for Irish gifts, but also a central location for all things Irish.

Irish on Grand is owned by a husband and wife team who both came to the United States from Ireland. Together they have created a charming store on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The building itself is a converted three story residential house. The front of the store is beautifully landscaped with gardens, stone benches and a very large, carved harp as the focal point.

The store on Grand Avenue is stocked with unique, high quality Irish goods that the owners purchase at Irish goods fairs both in Ireland and the U.S.

Irish on Grand maintains a website where the store owners feature about 5% of their products. The store itself is where the the owners put their focus - they encourage everyone to stop by the store on Grand Avenue, or call if you are looking for something in particular. They also welcome questions pertaining to the local Irish scene as they stay highly involved in Irish activities in the Twin Cities Metro area.

The harp

The harp has been a very important symbol for Ireland throughout its history, so much so that Irish on Grand owners have a large carved harp as the focal point of the landscaped area in front of their store.

Along with many Irish gift items, Irish on Grand sells a great variety of Irish music. To acquaint you with the sounds produced by the Irish or Celtic harp, here are links to some of the many videos featuring harp music that can be found on youtube:
