Irish Vows

shane durbec
I felt myself becoming comfortable
and I cried out in sheer grief
yelling, "I was once a rich man, aye.
Rich with wisdom and nature.
And now just a foolish child
told and scolded like puppet
begging for sympathy from
a ripe and bloated keeper."
Yes, yelling I was, and unhappy I seemed
but like the seasons have I changed
and I am reasonably content.
That is, still in love with her.
And it caught my pride,
just a nick and as well
that I.....

might not seem so special
right about now.
