Iron Man 2 Trailer Latest Big New Teaser

Iron Man 2 trailers already debuted in Comic Con, but not in front of a wider audience. Finally, an Iron Man 2 trailer is out for all to see online, and should be in theaters soon. This has been a week for big new trailers, after Alice in Wonderland and Robin Hood showed new footage in the last few days. As 2009 ends, it is time to hype up 2010's biggest movies, and Iron Man 2 stands to be one of the biggest.

The Iron Man 2 trailer mostly has footage that fans already saw at Comic Con. Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark shows up Garry Shandling in a Congressional hearing, and revels in his new fame as Iron Man. However, the sins of his family's past come back in the form of Mickey Rourke's Whiplash, who attacks Tony with a special suit of his own. Fortunately for Tony, War Machine is around for backup this time.

After a relatively slow year for comic book movies, Iron Man 2 will lead the 2010 lineup, and kick off the summer as well. We're just getting deep into the Oscar race, but it's never too early to look forward to summer. After the original kicked off summer 2008 with a bang - although The Dark Knight stole much of its thunder later - Iron Man 2 looks to repeat the formula.

It is a fitting time for a new Iron Man 2 trailer, right before Downey's Sherlock Holmes comes out next week. Even if that doesn't become a franchise, Downey still has Iron Man to fall back on. Since the sequel has the same team in charge, along with Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, and Don Cheadle as the new Jim Rhodes/War Machine, hopes are fairly high.

Those who saw Iron Man 2 trailer footage at Comic Con may not regard this as new, per se. The Congressional hearing, Whiplash's attack and War Machine were already glimpsed at there - although this has the first footage of Iron Man and War Machine fighting together. But it was hard to find leaked footage of the clips from Comic Con, so this Iron Man 2 teaser is brand new to everyone else.

The first film snuck up on people to become a big hit and put Downey back on the A-list. The sequel can't be that sneaky, since it has a big bullseye on its back, and every indication that it will be another hit. The new Iron Man 2 trailer does little to discredit that view - but there's still five months left until fans can be sure.

The teaser says the film will be released in May 2010, but IMDb has a more exact release date of May 7.
