Iron Man 2 Trailer Sparks Early Interest for Iron Man Sequel

The first Iron Man 2 teaser trailer was released Wednesday and Iron Man fans should be pleased. The Iron Man 2 trailer showed a bit of what will be taking place in the Iron Man sequel, and it allowed fans of the franchise to get a quick look at the new villains and heroes that will play an even bigger part in the second film. This is of course the sequel to Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man from 2008, and it is further telling the story of lead character Tony Stark and all of his adventures. They had to ramp up the action for the sequel, and this first Iron Man 2 teaser trailer is going to create a lot of buzz for the film.

Iron Man 2 will find Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) faced with the even tougher task of being a super hero that everyone knows about. At the end of the first film he revealed to the public that he was indeed Iron Man, and that allowed everyone to know his identity. This is a much different story arc than what is usually portrayed in the comic books turned into film, and it gives a much more original spin to the story when the 'hero' doesn't spend half of the movie trying to hide his true self. Now that will give Tony Stark even more freedom to explore his dangerous self, but at the same time it comes with many additional risks.

Iron Man 2 is also presenting audiences with a whole new cast of characters, as people on both sides of the law will be introduced to the story. Robert Downey Jr. of course returns as Tony Stark, Jon Favreau reprises his role as assistant Hogan (while directing Iron Man 2), and Gwyneth Paltrow comes back in the perfect role of Pepper Potts. Don Cheadle has been brought on board to replace Terrence Howard, Mickey Rourke joins the cast as bad-guy Whiplash, and Scarlett Johansson joins the cast as Black Widow. Other very recognizable names in the cast are Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Bettany, and Olivia Munn.

From the looks of the first Iron Man 2 teaser trailer, there is going to be a lot of excitement wrapped up in the presentation of this film. It looks like they are packing in the action, and that could be both a good thing and a bad thing. Hopefully they still spent a lot of time fleshing out the story, and that Jon Favreau allows the characters to work as well as they did in the first film. The nice blend of action and humor really put Downey Jr. in a great light, and that would benefit the film if he was portrayed that way again. We will finally get to see Iron Man 2 when it is released on May 7th, 2010, but at least for now we have an exciting trailer to whet our appetite for the film.
