Tony Stark, played again by Robert Downey Jr., gives a reply that would warm the heart of that capitalist loving author and philosopher Ayn Rand. In essence, Tony Stark flips off the Senate, telling the committee that it's "my property, you can't have it, but not to worry because America is safe and secure and that I, Tony Stark, have privatized world peace."
Well, of course he has.
But Iron Man 2 would not be a fun movie if there were not a threat to world peace that Iron Man must put down, to great peril. More of that anon.
Tony Stark's cockiness shows in the next scene when, dressed in his Iron Man suit, he requests a good luck smooch from his lovely and long suffering personal assistant, Pepper Potts, played once again by Gwyneth Paltrow. Ms. Pott proceeds to give the Iron Man helmet a buss and then tosses it out of the airplane they are on.
"Go get 'em, Tiger," she says.
"You complete me," he replies as he steps out into the void.
The rest of the Iron Man 2 trailer consists of quick shots of some kind of Los Vegas show, followed by increasingly spectacular scenes of violence. Tony Stark aka Iron Man may be loved, especially in his own mind, but not by everyone. A number of iconic Marvel Comics personalities arrive to complicate Iron Man's life.
The main bad guy is Ivan Vanko aka Whiplash, a Russian who seems to have a grudge against the Stark Family. Whiplash is played by Mickey Rourke, whose career is enjoying quite a revival in recent years.
Rounding out the cast are Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, Paul Bettany as the voice of Jarvis, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury (who dons his own Iron Man suit in one scene from the trailer), Olivia Munn as Melina Vostokoff aka Iron Maiden, and Don Cheadle as Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes aka War Machine.
The first Iron Man introduced Tony Stark as a man out to prove that corporate greed is not all bad, especially when coupled with a cocky attitude and just a dollop of a social conscience. In the first movie Iron man smote the Taliban and those who would arm them. Now he is faces some Russian baddies. It should be fun.

Post a CommentLas Vegas is spelled Las, not Los.
And secondly, that was NOT Nick Fury putting on an Iron Man suit in the trailer, that was Colonel Rhodes, famously becoming his alter ago, War Machine
