Iron Man and the Cannons

Many critics feel this to be the comeback of Robert Downey Jr., the fans would disagree. Downey, starring as billionaire industrialist Tony Stark turned superhero Iron Man, never really left and Hollywood hasn't given up on him. Despite all of his ups and downs, Downey has prevailed from it a more refined actor.

Iron Man is centered on Tony Star taking the helm of Stark Industries introducing a new weapon to the Air Force soldiers only to be ambushed by a terrorist group called Ten Rings who want him to produce a weapon called The Jericho, the same one presented to the soldiers. Although he agree to their demands, Stark has other plans for use of time as their hostage. Downey delivers wonderfully in a role he was born to play. He bounces off his co-stars (Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrance Howard and Jeff Bridges respectively) very well, especially with much of the dialogue being improvised by the actors because production was focused more on the action and story in the movie. Of course you know there's going to be a sequel, but not until 2010 and the proof is after the credits.

If you're good with small talk or have great patience, stay till the very end...literally. After the credits have rolled, we're presented with a scene where Stark returns home to find Colonel Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson making a cameo appearance). He's there to talk to Tony about the Avengers Initiative; how sweet it is.

This sets the tone for the sequel as well as other Marvel characters that are set for the big screen in the next 3 years. Iron Man is the first self-financed film out of Marvel Studios and judging by the $100-plus million opening weekend, it's safe to say Marvel made the right move.

Mariah and Nick are Indeed Married

It has been a little over a week since Mariah became Mrs. Nick Cannon and people are still reeling from the news. The out of left field union of the stars are questionable at best but it seems they are solid with their whirlwind love.

Bahamian officials told reporters the actor and singer are officially husband and wife. Reports also state that the two have known each other for about a month; that's probably about five months in the real world. There are people still speculating this to be a publicity stunt, which would make sense but why? It's not like she needs the publicity, she's a bona fide talent. It may seem like she has a few loose screws but at the end of the day, she's delivers.

As for Nick, he's been in a handful of movies including 2003's Love Don't Cost A Thing (with then girlfriend Christina Milian), has had a popular show with MTV (Nick Cannon Presents Wild 'n Out) and is a recording artist as well. Maybe he needs the extra exposure because we're not talking about him enough; think about it for a spell. His career began on Nickelodeon's sketch show All That, made his leading man debut in 2002's Drumline; outside the occasional appearance in television and music videos Cannon had another sketch show on MTV called Short Circuitz which received low ratings.

Nick told People magazine that they have so much in common spiritually and laugh at the same things. He was able to be himself with her. This is the best part - they are eternally 12 years old. Remember he said that. He's in Carey's 'Bye Bye 'video playing what else - her love interest.

It looks as though both Mariah and Nick have found happiness in each other; following in the tradition of Jay-Z and Beyoncé and the former Lees (Tommy and Pam), they also have tattoos to seal the deal (hers say Mrs. Cannon). Don't get it twisted, Mariah still has the ring. The talk of children has already sparked between the two.

"It's part of the whole purpose of getting married." Carey told the magazine. "I'd just want our children to have the best childhood and upbringing they possibly could."

Best wishes to the happy couple and take it step by step. Because there's still some growing to do from both of them.
