'Iron Man' Movie Memorabilia Collection: Five Current Items on My Wish List

Rolando Cruz
Perhaps it's because I am a compulsive and sentimental pack rat, a fact made evident by a loft which currently holds over 500,000 assorted baseball cards I have been collecting since I was five. Or maybe it's because I am a degree-holding engineer who prizes a superhero who wields intelligence, ingenuity, and creativity as his only real weapons. Whatever the reason may be, I collect "Iron Man" movie memorabilia. Never one to limit myself, my collection consist of a wide array of items which includes, action figures, collectible movie cards, comic books, bobble head dolls, assorted shirts, and different DVD variations of the movies. It is now a well established fact within my family that any birthday or Christmas going forward needs to include a few more "Iron Man" collectibles. If they fail to come through for me, there is always the likelihood that I will pout like a child. Having said that, here is my current wish list for "Iron Man"movie items I still covet, and would like to add to my collection over the next few years.

Autograph Robert Downey Jr. Card
Price Tag: $225

Though I currently own most of the costume cards in the 2008 Rittenhouse Archives card set, I have yet to add a Robert Downey Jr. Autograph card. Limited to a print run of only 150, the card was a direct marketed autograph that was sold to hobby accounts only. With a price tag in the $225 range, getting this movie collectible may take some time.

Autographed Movie Script
Price Tag: 175-200?

While an official movie script (by Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby and Art Marcum) may not be all that hard to come by, one autographed by a good portion of the cast can be. Key autographs would include Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark /Iron Man), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Jim Rhodes (Terence Howard). Occasionally a color photocopy of an original is sold on e-bay, but for anyone wanting the real thing, waiting is just part of the game.

"Invincible Iron Man #1" Movie Variant (1:100) Comic Book
Price Tag: $70

Currently I have a few of the movie based variant covers for "Invincible Iron Man #1," but the one I still have not added to my collection is the 1 in 100 cover variant that features Robert Downy J., Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jeff Bridges. Selling in the $70 range, this collectible would probably be worthy of a Christmas or birthday present (hint, hint family).

"Iron Man 2" Mark IV 4 Limited Edition (Scale: 1/6)
Price Tag: $169

While I have most of the pose-able action figures that are prevalent in most Targets or Walmarts, there is one action figure that is still on my want list, the 1/6th scale model of the Mark IV Iron Man armor put out by Hot Toys. This action figure is as detailed and as movie-accurate as they come. The lone set back of this figure is the price. Still, as far as toys go, this is the one to get. The figure is shown in all its glorious detail in this YouTube video; Iron Man 2 Mark IV.

"Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2" : Autograph Cards of Supporting Cast
Price Range: $15 - $70

While waiting to get a good deal on a Robert Downey Jr. autograph card, I still chase the autograph card of multiple characters from the film. Among those on my want list are the following; Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan) , Leslie Bibb (Christine Everhart), Mickey Rourke (Whiplash), Terrence Howard (Jim Rhodes). These could be supplemented with the costume cards that I have yet to obtained; Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and Terrence Howard (Jim Rhodes.
