Iron Man - PS2 Game Review

Iron Man for the PS2 is a fantastic game. It came out about a year ago, but it is still one of my favorite PS2 games. It has great graphics, amazing game play, and a great story line that will make you gasp!

So let us start with the graphics. The graphics of the game are great. They are obviously at the higher end of the PS2's capabilities. The PS2 can only get so crisp, and this game has used its full potential. The graphics in the game are very realistic. The graphics of the people are great. Iron Man looks like he is almost real. The graphics of the scenery are not so great though. The mountains and buildings aren't blurry, but sort of pixelated. They seem out of place in such a crisp environment.

Next let's move on to the game play. You control Iron Man (not Tony, he's boring) with the analog stick. You can shoot off enemies with the circle button from long range. If you move into close range, you will automatically switch to melee combat. Iron Man can also fly (and it is pretty darn cool). You use the L1 and R1 buttons to control his altitude. You can hover by just pressing the R1 button. To get higher, hold the R1, to drop, hold L1. These controls are pretty simple. To go into afterburner mode (which is where you fly fast) you hold the R2 button. This is what makes flying really fun. You can only fly up to a certain distance before Jarvis or Pepper will interrupt you and make you go down. This distance, in my opinion, is just a bit too low. It seems very throttling to only be able to go up so high.

Finally, we have to go to the story line. Tony Stark (Iron Man) is captured by terrorists. He is forced to build a Jericho Missile (a missile that can kill millions if shot into a city or condensed area). He is given pieces of his own weapons to build the missile. He uses these pieces to build a suit with weapons to escape. He escapes the caves of the terrorists and flies away. He lands about a mile away from the mountains, where he is picked up but the military and returned home. When he gets home, he works on his suit and creates a finished product. He uses this suit to fight terrorism.

Tony is a beast, and so is this game. I would give it an 8 out of 10. I like this game a lot, and you can too. You can get it on EBay for only a couple of bucks. Check it out!
