Iron Sky Nazi Flying Saucers Fact or Fiction?
A New Finnish Sci-Fi Film Iron Sky Focuses on Hitler's UFO's
A new sci-fi comedy film from Finland that centers around a real life German scientist has re-opened a debate as to whether Nazi Germany did actually succeed in creating UFO's.
It's true that the development of something as advanced as a flying saucer back in 1945 is unlikely, but then at the same time Nazi Germany had developed not only the V1 (Doodlebug flying bomb), the V2 rocket, and was in the process of launching the first V3 rocket by the end of the war. Evidence shows that scientists were also working on a rocket that could reach as far as the Eastern seaboard of the USA.
At the same time the USA had developed the Atomic Bomb, and it not been for sabotage and bombing attacks against the factories, the Germans might well have beaten the Allies to it.
So if we look at it against the light of all that had been accomplished in the field of science in the early 1940's, it doesn't seem that unlikely does it.
The film however does take on a fanciful look at what might have been, with the focus placed on Hans Kammler, who was a real life SS scientist, and who was reported to have made significant developments in the field of anti-gravity.
The plot of the film shows the Nazi's developing a secret military base in the Antarctic, from where they launched their first spaceships in late 1945, creating a base on the dark side of the moon, called Schwarze Sonne or Black Sun.
From here, an invasion fleet was going to be built, that would return to Earth and restore power for the Nazis, in the case of the film this being the year 2018.
Of course the movie is a work of fiction, but there are many sources that hint at evidence the Nazis had progressed this far, and even that they had obtained UFO secrets even before the war.
According to a new report in Germany by PM magazine, eyewitnesses in 1944 believe that they saw a flying saucer with iron cross markings flying low over the Thames, and the New York Times wrote at the same time about a mysterious flying disc that was seen to fly at high speed over high-rise buildings.
There are even stories of eyewitnesses captured by the Allies in 1945 who claimed they saw a saucer produced in Prague flying in 1945.
Believe it or not, and the same as with Roswell, there are so many phony sightings and reports of UFO's that the credibility of them being real, assuming that they are, is greatly reduced.
However, you might find this book Hitler's Flying Saucers , which can be read online, of interest. The book has 262 pages of information about various scientific programs that were being undertaken by the Germans during World War II, with many documents, plans and photographs, as well as eyewitness accounts.
Just how much is true and how much is phony I guess we will never know, but it is a highly intriguing topic nevertheless.

Post a CommentGreat topic, Tony.
That was interesting!
Although I am skeptical about the speculated extra-terrestrial origins of UFOs, I do believe it is possible someone has made airships which are capable of the things UFOs are said to do. The only reason something like this would not be widely known is if it was produced for defense or military reasons.
Very interesting article,Tony! Thanks for sharing.
This sounds like an interesting film, although I confess I am a skeptic on the subject of UFOs.
sounds interesting
