The Day of the Dead has arrived, just a little earlier than you might expect.

Next week "Je Suis Dead" ("I Am Dead"), Fool's Proof Theatre's dark comedy opens at the Irondale Center in Fort Greene. The play borrows from the real-life experiences of the company members with a little touch of nothingness. Yes, Sarte is apparently an influence as well.

The dark play teeters on the brink of reality and asks the basic existential questions. It also attempts to answer them through each character. Centered on three strangers following a traumatic train wreck, the play takes a look at life, death, and what's in between.

Thought-provoking and inspired, "Je Suis Dead," will likely stick with you for days after. Audience members will likely be amazed that such compelling subject matter can be delivered by just three actors - the core members of the company - Ben Phillips, Britt Jürgensen, and Mary Pearson.

Fool's Proof Theatre is a United Kingdom-based theatre company with core members from the UK, the US, and Germany. The company links artists of varying disciplines to contrive performances that really push the envelope.

"Je Suis Dead" runs from September 30 through October 2 at Irondale Center at 85 South Oxford Street between Lafayette and Greene. Tickets are $25.
