Pros
Even though the Ironman 125 can be regarded as a cheap exercise machine it is very well built. The frame looks sturdy and seem to be able to take quite a beating. Perhaps that is why Ironman give a lifetime warranty for the frame.
With the Ironman 125 you don't have to worry about where the power outlet is. You don't have to plug any wires because it only uses two AA batteries to run the monitor. So there is no worries about electric shock or about getting a cable extension because the power outlet is too far away from where you want to put this thing.
This bike uses 11-pound flywheel which gives smooth and stable overall ride. In total there are eight resistance levels which should be enough for novices who just want to get fit and burn calories. It has a large LCD display which shows you the speed, time, pulse, calories and distance. The pulse rate shown on the display is taken from the sensors on the handlebars. This is good because you don't need to buy a separate heart rate monitor.
The Ironman 125 adapts the step-through design which makes it an ideal choice for people who just undergone surgery, have limited mobility or those who just can't lift their feet high enough to go over the frame on standard bikes. It's really convenient.
Once in a while you may want to move this bike around just to get a better position. Since it only weights 70 pounds moving it around is no big deal. Plus, it has small wheels on the bottom so you can push it away or pull it easily.
Cons
As mentioned above the Ironman 125 is a basic recumbent exercise bike. The flywheel reflects that very well. It only weighs 11-pound which is very light compared to those gym-quality bikes. Such light flywheel means it's easy to pedal but as for resistance it won't give you much. If you are a serious competitor this bike won't give you much challenge.
Conclusion
For those of you who are still looking for a good basic bike to buy the Ironman 125 recumbent exercise bike should be in your list. It provides everything you need to get quality exercise at home and it won't eat your wallet alive. For less than $200 this bike can give you years and years of great exercise.
