Ironman 2 and the Marvel Empire

Marvel has made a completely new wing to their empire but turning their comics into movies. The latest of which is Ironman 2. I recently saw the newest marvel sequel and I found that overall, it was not a bad movie but it did lack some of the spark that we saw in the first. The witty one-liners that are bantered back and forth were the best thing about Ironman 2. The plot line was a little predictable and weak, but some of the character interactions were unbeatable.

I will not say that Iron man 2 is a bad movie because it is not but you never forget you are seeing a sequel. The intenseness from the first movie is gone and there is a much more lighthearted feel to everything on screen, even in the serious moments. Much of the plot seems disconnected and predictably, Stark takes a heck of a beating one that your normal human being should not be able to take. In Ironman 2 we also see some rather unashamed plugging of other upcoming movies, we see Captain Americas shield in one pivotal point of the film, and at the end of the credits is the Hammer of Thor.

All of those things said it is still a movie worth seeing and does not crash and burn into the realm of sequels like Spiderman 3. If you can accept what faults the movie has and sit back and just enjoy the fact that it is a high impact action movie you will enjoy it. THere are some funny parts and quirky one-liners that will keep you entertained. For all its faults, Ironman 2 was a movie worth seeing. It should be interesting to see what happens next with this series.

One thing that concerns me with many of the marvel films is the weak sequels. I love marvel and have been a comic girl for a long time, but it seems to be that while they are fantastic with the first movie in a series and seeing it put together but when they get to the second in the series, you can most certainly tell that it is the second film. For the strength of their entertainment value, we can only hope this is a problem that they can move passed.

Marvel is always about the sequel. When I was a kid I preferred DC comics with Superman and Batman. Spiderman at Marvel was great, but it seemed they couldn't finish a story in one issue, but ran it into two or more.
