Is the Afghan War to End?

Greg Seltz
Though it seems political advisors have been preparing to evacuate military forces from Afghanistan for the past few years, little action has proven any related statements factual as of yet. Apparently, President Obama repeats similar derogatory observations Dec 01, 2009. The extraction based on this commitment is estimated to proceed in 3 years. Acknowledging the simple fact that I fail to engage in many political occurrences; instead this article tends to represent fact rather than opinion. I have included the news link below.

The one personal aspect I do reflect upon is my own experience while serving 4 years in the Marine Corps. I understand the multiple reactions vented by our service members after witnessing such events. To acknowledge that another 3 years of war exists; and furthermore, an increase in reinforcements is expected to deploy in no more than 6 months can significantly alter the human perspective. Training operations are bound in motion as troops prepare hastily to amount for future expectations. Liberty time will reduce as quotas remain open for the next "voluntold" individual to assume readiness. Family and friends will inevitably retain emotional grievance as loved ones wait to be dispatched to foreign territory. Is this what we signed up for........unlikely; however, our duty prohibits otherwise.

According to CNN, 30,000 additional troops will advance immediately to occupy military installations in Afghanistan. NATO alliances are also requested to endure further commitments. Though little details are available as factual at this point, President Obama intends to relay his mission objectives and intentions at the US Military Academy at West Point, NY. This speech may involve details such as timeframes, manpower, and budget restraints. US commander in Afghanistan mentioned that unless actions are immediately implemented, the mission is likely compromised. This comment has propelled Obama to act accordingly and prevent further threats and risks by initiating the deployment of forces in 6 months. Because this is his second act to increase manpower in Afghanistan, his reputation is apparently in a fragile state. Please comment on your opinion and ideas of the matter at hand.
