Is 'The Bachelor' Shocker Around the Corner?

Chris Houston
"The Bachelor" shocker is just around the corner, right? Didn't host Chris Harrison say this would be the most controversial season ever early on? Or was I just imagining those words? Is it simply controversial because the producers hand picked a guy who left two women standing during a final rose ceremony a few seasons ago? Or are fireworks coming in the "Women Tell All" episode or in "The Final Rose" ceremony next week?

So far, I just don't get it. Besides a very odd Michelle Money, "The Bachelor" has been way less than shocking and controversial this season than in the past. There hasn't really been anything shocking about the show. Now that "The Bachelor" spoilers are already out, it certainly looks like "The Final Rose" will go to one of the women we expect it to. It has to-unless Brad Womack opts out for a second straight time. That would be a shocker-but certainly not unbelievable considering his past. That also appears extremely unlikely-considering Brad Womack has already said in post "The Bachelor" interviews that he has found love and is very happy.

So where is this "The Bachelor" shocker? Where is the controversy that was teased early on? I personally think Brad Womack did an excellent job of picking 4 final women who were all less than controversial. The producers of "The Bachelor" did play up the whole funeral theme with Shawntel but that girl was anything but controversial.
She probably would have been a great pick, too if Brad decided to go that direction. Then he cut loose of Ashley Hebert in the final 3. Was that so shocking or controversial? Not really considering his deep connection to the other women-somebody had to go.

Who is Ashley Hebert? She's just the girl who is rumored to be the next "Bachelorette." So in essence, Brad limited his choices to 4 girls who appear to be good wife material. He did keep Michelle Money around a little too long. But even her antics were tame down the stretch. Michelle Money may have been over the top harsh with other girls behind their backs during interview segments-but she really didn't "go there" that much in front of their faces. My guess is some of that back-stabbing will surface in the "Women Tell All" after the other women have witnessed the actual edited version of the show. Money was a little over obsessed in a weird stalking kind of way with Brad but we've certainly seen that kind of stuff before on "The Bachelor." So where was this great "The Bachelor" controversy?

This show may go down as one of the least controversial if anything. Nobody allegedly slept with a producer. "The Bachelor" isn't going to pick someone that America hates. Nobody faked a leg injury. To me, it just doesn't rank up there with the shows that were the most 'controversial'. Was there a controversy I missed?

Somebody please explain to me how this season was so shocking? If you're into that stuff, the whole show has probably been a letdown. It's been a normal dating show without many hitches. There aren't many girls to complain about because Brad opted out of keeping the "drama mama" around. Instead, he handed out roses to one of the best Final Fours the show has ever witnessed in my opinion. I think the guy actually did a really nice job of picking girls who were, and I'll use a "Bachelor" cliche here, "in it for the right reasons."

Is "The Bachelor" controversy coming on "The Women Tell All?" I can't imagine that show will offer up much besides a few women getting extremely catty with Michelle Money. So is "The Bachelor" controversy going to take place on "The Final Rose" night? I'm waiting and wondering-but according to "The Bachelor" spoilers-the show is all but over in terms of controversial issues.

Maybe "The Bachelor" spoilers are wrong and something does go off track in the next week. But it doesn't seem likely at this point considering Brad Womack has what appears to be two sweethearts remaining. In other words, the guy isn't going to majorly offend anyone for picking either Emily or Chantal. I find it funny that America believes that Brad Womack will pick Emily by a large percentage in a poll placed on "The Bachelor" website. In fact, 69% of fans currently think Brad should hand the final rose to Emily.

Maybe that's the controversy Chris Harrison was eluding to. Maybe that's the whole shocker-that the producers of "The Bachelor" feel Emily is a "can't miss All American girl" where Chantal isn't. The horrible thing about that possible scenario is that Chantal has given us zero reason to dislike her--maybe people just like Emily a bit more. And they sympathize with her horrible past, losing a loved one and the fact the she has an adorable young daughter. All good reasons to root for Emily-but very unfair if Brad sees more mutual love with Chantal.

Emily just really hasn't opened up enough from what I have seen with Brad. I think any man would be lucky to have what appears to be such a kind and beautiful woman-but I just don't think she is quite ready for that yet. That's why I think Brad Womack will pick Chantal. And I hate to think anyone would think that the pick of Chantal should be deemed "The Bachelor" controversy of the season. It's not really a "Bachelor" shocker. He's just picking the girl he wants to be with the most if it goes that direction. And America will get over it. It's not as if he's picking the bad girl like Jake did with Vienna. But controversy? No way, now how. It's just an average season of "The Bachelor" with very few twists and turns. And that's okay-but it truly hasn't made for extra compelling television.

Brad will find love an honesty with Chantal. She is fun loving, sincere, spontaneous, sensitive and is admittedly in love with him. She has a real family with parents and siblings. What does Emily have to offer in the way of a family except a child out of wedlock
