Is Barack Obama a Racist?

Article

Kady Birdwhistle
Yesterday in my Human Services class, we were told to watch clips of Barack Obama and his pastor, Jeremiah Wright and to give our opinion on them. However, I'm not sure what to write about for this assignment. I have watched many clips of both Mr. Obama and Mr. Wright. I need some clarification in order to try and form an opinion, in order to get a decent grade. So, here are my questions for you:

Was Jesus black like Reverend Wright asserts?

Is Reverend Wright a racist against whites?

Does Mr. Obama feel the same way as his pastor?

Reverend Wright asserts in one speech/sermon that the Romans who crucified Jesus were white, is that so?

Do you feel Reverned Wright has been misunderstood?

Please try to comment and give your opinions. This will really help me in my class! Thankyou to all! I do apologize for stirring things up, but this is a class assignment.

    Jesus was a jew yes the Romans did crucified Jesus but only because the Jews insisted that they do. yes Obama and is pastor are indeed raciest who hate America. do you all remember the video going around where rev wright said and i quoit "goddamn America" Obama sat in that church for 20 years where they talk down on whites and wish for the destruction of America.

    Reverend Wright is not running for President, Barrack Obama is. If you want to complain about the people Obama associates with, take a look at one of the people McCain associated with - the late Jerry Falwell. Falwell is the father of all bigots, and if McCain thinks he can do a better job of uniting the American people, then he would do a lot better than to associate himself with people like Falwell even after his death. I don't expect either Obama or McCain to be perfect human beings, but Obama is coming off as a much better person regardless of McCain's experience.

    Here's my issue: If we're going to hold reverends accountable for presidential elections, then shouldn't we be eyeing McCain too? McCain's friend, late Rev. Jerry Falwell, who said 9/11 was retribution from God, and Rev. John Hagee who said the Catholic Church "thirsted for the blood of the Jewish people" thoughout its history and that Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans to prevent a gay pride march? Do Obama naysayers hate him for his disrespect for homosexuality and translationof September 11th too? And just an FYI, if you want to find out more about why Rev. Wright may have a point about HIV/AIDS being a manmade disease, check out this six-part YouTube video set: http://www.youtube.com/v/Ml7q6iMwqLY&hl=en

    yes I think barack is a racist, belonging to that church for twenty years and having a close relationship with wright. plus his wifes comments on first time ever being proud of the united states, sounds like he is a racist and doesn't belong in the white house.

    The central term, and hence the focus, of your assignment is Wright. The prescribed length of the response to the assignment will determine the content and complexity of your paper. A three-page response would yield one type of paper. An open-ended response would yield another. (It is unlikely your instructor wants a wandering dissertation.) Also, the expected nature of the response will affect your response. Is it to be grounded academically? Is it opinion? Survey research? The underlying concept of the assignment seems to be "race." If this is so, define "racism." define "race," explore the scientific, anthropological, and sociological bases of racism and race. Essentially, this is a poorly constructed assignment - it lacks focus. Your instructor should appreciate a paper which is tight, focused, and conclusive. If you want "short answers" to the questions, the correct answers are: no, yes, yes, no, no.

    God only sees two kinds of people. Those who believe in Him through His Son, and those that don't.
    It's that simple. As to Obama, if he supports Wright (Islam)--he is anti-Christ.

    Here's what Jesus looked like:

    "He has no form or comeliness;
    And when we see Him,
    There is no beauty that we should desire Him.
    He is despised and rejected by men,
    A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
    And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
    He was despised, and we did not esteem Him..."

    Do you know Him now? Time is short...

    I have read historical accounts that claim Jesus was fairer than most of his race. What color he was is beside the point; we are all equal in God's eyes. Listening to Obama's speech in defense of his pastor, I have to agree with him that even people who are not blatantly racist still may hold preconceived stereotypes of other races. I think that is just part of human nature, although no pastor should make remarks that might be considered racist.

    This isn't about color as much as it is about truth. A real minister of the Word of Jesus would not give awards to the Nation of Islam.
    Obama knows well what Wright preaches. He is bad for America. Too bad there are NO worth people running for office this year.
