Is Beauty Worth Dying For?

Christine Stockstill
Beauty is something that most men and women want. In fact most men and women, if given the chance, would change something about themselves if given the chance. The problem now of days is that with the economy so bad people are willing to do anything and everything to improve their body. With that being said, why do people continue to do such when they know the possible outcomes?

Just this weekend Ms. Argentina died of an obsession that could have been prevented. As published by Marina Perova on December 1, 2009, "Former Miss Argentina Solange Magnano, 38, was rushed to hospital with severe breathing problems after a cosmetic operation." Miss. Magnano had a procedure called Gluteoplasty. Gluteoplasty is a fancy medical term for butt lift. The reason for this horrible death is because the implants ruptured causing the arteries to the lungs to clog. After spending three long days in critical condition she passed leaving behind beautiful eight year old twins. She had the life that most people dream about. She had the looks, the house, beautiful kids, and everything that comes with fame. She unfortunately picked life over beauty without even knowing it.

Sadly Miss. Argentina is not the first who has suffered from these so called beauty upgrades. So many women all over the world get face lifts and so many of them went wrong. People even try to do their own Botox. A South Korean woman named Hang Mioku, 38, also had an obsession with being beautiful. After about ten years of plastic surgery, surgeons refused her more work. So she made a desperate attempt to "fix" her face and neck. She injected cooking oil into her face destroying her face forever. Her face became so large the kids started calling her "standing fan" due to her body and head proportions. Donations were made to assist Ms. Mioku in correcting her face. When they doctors cut into her face they extracted sixty grams of foreign substances from her face and another two hundred grams from her neck. That was just from the first procedure alone. Several other procedures were made to correct her face leaving behind lots of scars.

There are so many sad stories of people destroying their body for their ideas of beauty. Is all this stuff worth your life? There are so many questions you should ask yourself before you jump into things like this. What if it goes wrong and ruins your life? Granted that not all of procedures go wrong, but so many do. It just as well could be you next. How can you be so trusting to let someone cut into your body and change all that you were created to be? If nothing else changes your mind people all over the world should be aware of what they are doing, and look at all their options first.

EWE! This is something I think most women should really think about. Stop being so concerned about your outward appearance and focus on your inward appearance first.
