Bermuda grass is a grass that grows in the southern regions of the United States, as well as other southern countries such as Australia and South America. This type of grass thrives in tropical types of areas. This grass likes the hot and humid weather. It grows best in high temperatures, mild winters and moderate to high rainfall seasons. This grass will also stay green for the entire year in areas that do not have frost in the morning, and the grass will slow in it's growing during the time of year when there are cool nights. It won't stop growing, but will slow down dramatically. It just means there will be less you'll have to mow.
Bermuda grass is a grass that needs to have direct sunlight, and will not grow well at all if it is in a shaded area, or an area with a lot of trees. It also requires an area where it has between 20 and 100 inches of rainfall each year. If it is placed in an area where there is less than 20 inches of rainfall each year, you will have to provide it with proper irrigation whether by water rights or a sprinkler system that you install for this lawn.
Bermuda grass is also well suited for high traffic areas like sports fields, golf course fairways and tennis courts. It has also been used to landscape cemeteries and road sides to help with erosion. With lots of mowing and gentile care when watering, your Bermuda grass will form a dense fine textured turf. So when you look back at all that this type of lawn can do for you, once you've planted this well used type of lawn, you'll be happy to know that you'll have a beautiful lawn that you and your family will be able to enjoy for years to come.
