Bill Clinton is without a doubt an asset to his wife's campaign, but he can only help her so much. Hilary Clinton is a strong advocate for women and children's rights but this goes unnoticed because of her ice queen personality. Even Bill can't change people's opinions about that. Barack, on the other hand is very likeable. He is virtually a Washington outsider, who seems to be a man for the people. He has gained strong support from minorities, young people, and wealthy democrats. More and more democrats are staying away from their couple.
At the end of the day, Bill Clinton is a brilliant politician who knows how to play dirty. He knows how to get what he wants and he is well equipped to do that. Problems arise when he plays dirty against members of his own party though. Ted and Caroline Kennedy's support for Obama is proof of this. They realize what Clinton is doing, because they have witnessed him doing it against republicans.
Clinton cannot help himself though, and why should he? Yes, people claim he is dividing the party, and harming Hilary, but he isn't. Hilary is the only one harming Hilary. And despite the negative publicity he has received lately, he isn't harming his legacy. He is only showing why he became president in the first place! And please believe, they Democratic Party will be united whether Hilary or Barack gets the nomination. Bill Clinton is one of the most powerful people in the party and he knows what he is doing, and he knows his limits. Yes, he is looking out for his wife first, but he also realizes that he has to look out for his party as well. Bill is no fool!
