Is Bill Goldberg Returning to WWE?

Bill Goldberg was without a doubt one of the most enigmatic and dominating wrestlers on the face of the planet. He dominated throughout his early days in WCW and rode that domination to the very top of the wrestling business. He then debuted on WWE programming after WCW went out of business and he dominated there as well. Now, it appears that Bill Goldberg could be making a comeback. According to many inside sources, he is in negotiations with WWE right now for a comeback.

What would Bill Goldberg coming back to the WWE mean for the company and the wrestling business at large? For one thing, they would see a resurgence of fans from back then. Goldberg was more popular in his time than most all of the superstars around today. Only a handful of current WWE Superstars had a fan base that was as large and loud as Goldberg.

Why was Goldberg so popular in the first place? The mystique certainly had a lot to do with it. In the early days of Goldberg, he was not made out to be a huge deal. Week after week he came out and dominated good wrestlers. Then after a few weeks they began having him demolish stars as well. Before long, Goldberg had an unbeaten streak that was second to nobody except Andre the Giant back in the day. Goldberg became a household name throughout the world.

Goldberg would be very interesting in the current WWE scene. Potential feuds with John Cena, Batista and even another feud with Triple H would all be top flight television for their programming. Goldberg needs to make sure it is done right though. His legacy is firm and coming back under the wrong conditions could certainly hurt his reputation as the unstoppable force that he was. If he is coming back to do anything other than dominate, they need to forget it. Bill Goldberg losing is not something that works as the WWE found out the first time around. If he is dominating, he will be over with the fans.

It remains to be seen whether or not Bill Goldberg will in fact return, but you can be sure a great many fans are waiting with baited breath to find out if he is. I can hear the chants now....Goldberg! Goldberg!
