It takes time to drive traffic to your blog. It takes a whole lot of traffic to make your blog profitable. Not every visitor will click on your pay-per-click ads. Not every visitor will be interested in the affiliate products you promote. In fact, most people surfing the web are so programmed to seeing advertisements that they don't even notice them anymore. So, you'll have to attract a big crowd to realize even a small profit. If you want immediate gratification, blogging for money is probably not for you.
For the already employed blogger trying to build extra income, the slow process to blogging for money might be okay. However, if you plan to rely on your blogging earnings as your primary income, don't expect to see fat paychecks at first. Blogging can be a great addition to other online work, and it can be a great supplement to your current income, but a new blog probably won't generate enough income to pay your bills.
One option is joining a blogging network that pays a base salary plus a certain share of advertising revenue. Many people do this and enjoy a little bit better paycheck than they'd be able to earn by blogging on their own. Always make sure the blogging network is legit before you commit.
Another option to pursue if you need an immediate or regular paycheck you can count on, and you really do enjoy blogging, is to try seeking out blogging jobs that you can do part-time while you're building up your traffic and earnings at your own blog. Many companies and website owners hire bloggers to regularly blog for them. You'll usually have to commit to posting a certain amount of times per day or week, and you'll often be given a topic or told exactly what you need to blog about. While blogging for someone else might not feel like the most creative option, taking on blogging jobs can certainly be a way to make extra money and gain experience. You might even be able to link to your own blog and thereby gain some extra traffic for yourself.
