Is Britney Spears Getting Married in a Double Wedding with Sister? Britney's BS Alert Says "Bullsh*t"

With the Britney Spears gossip mill in overdrive, the latest 'news' this week is Britney Spears and her plan to have a double wedding with sister Jamie Lynn Spears. Internet gossip sites and newspapers are reporting Britney Spears will be marrying Jason Trawick later this year, in a double ceremony with sister Jamie Lynn and her boyfriend Casey Aldridge. Is it true? Of course not. Britney herself even says "Bullsh*t - they got it all wrong".

When the rumor hit that Spears was marrying boyfriend Jason Trawick in a ceremony bigger than Princess Diana's, my alarm bells were already ringing. Then when they mentioned the inclusion of Spears' sister, Jamie Lynn, I knew it wasn't true. Anyone who knows anything about Britney Spears knows the last things she's going to do is have a double wedding with her sister. Both Britney and Jamie Lynn like the limelight so, as much as they love each other, they're not going to share that limelight with anyone. Not on their wedding days. And why should they.

Unfortunately for Britney, much of the things written about her are because of pure speculation on the part of a gossipmonger, who saw a photo somewhere or heard a teeny piece of information and blew it out of all proportion. More internet gossip channels pick it up and, within a few hours of the first bit of incorrect information getting online, every other gossip site has picked it up too. And they've made it bigger and even more incorrect. It's like the game of "Chinese Whispers". What starts as an innocent piece of information is completely unrecognizable by the time it gets to the end of the line.

In most cases of 'Britney Spears news', the 'news' gossip columnists don't even care if it's true. All they care about is 'Britney news' sells magazines, newspapers and advertising on the internet. So, as long as they're making their money, lies about Britney, just like lies about any other celebrity, are simply the "cash cow" that hasn't yet died.

Britney Spears herself though has been smart. A frequent tweeter on Twitter, Spears often tweets when the latest piece of news isn't true. Just two days ago, her manager tweeted on Britney Spears Twitter account, "Whose got it all wrong this week? OK! Magazine does! Check out this week's BS Report: http://bit.ly/drVNIZ". The link leads to a website the Britney camp has set up to tell the truth about any Britney rumors.

Britney's site is part of her BritneySpears.com site and is called "BS Alert" (a smart play on Britney Spears' (BS) name. On it, Britney herself, or one of her staff, debunks any story about the singer that is, as she says, "Bullsh*t". That's also where her latest 'BS Alert' was posted, debunking the OK Magazine story about a Britney Spears double wedding, and linked to from her Twitter account.
