Is Campaign Fund-raising an Indication of Voter Support?

really believe that we are now at a point as a nation that individual contributions most certainly are an indication of someones support for a certain candidate. With that being said I think that there will always be special interests groups that feel they can get their agenda pushed through by using the all mighty dollar, but, generally speaking I believe that individuals that donate to a certain candidate are going to vote for that person.

Look at it from a pure economical standpoint. The average lower to middle class American probably does not have bundles of cash laying around to spend and just throw caution to the wind. Trust me, I am one of those people and I cannot do that. If these people make a donation to a certain campaign it only makes logical sense that they like the campaigns platform and their views on what they are doing. Furthermore, the person undoubtedly not only likes the ideas but shares all or most of the same ideas. Why else would an individual contribute to a campaign in the first place? I would not sink money into a campaign for one politician to turn around and vote for the other person.

Use Ron Paul as an example. He raised cash like it is going out of style. Most middle class Americans identify with him and his ideals and feel that he is going to give America hope for what they believe is right. You do not hear about any of these people giving money to Ron Paul saying that they are backing another candidate. Why is this? Because the American middle class is smarter than just wasting their money!
